O's complete the 4-game sweep, beating the White Sox 4-1. Change bounced, ball 4. 1st and 2nd, 2 down
Closer Robert Suarez coming in to face Judge in what is now a save situation with the tying run on deck.

Suarez having a fantastic season so far. 21 games, 22 1/3 innings, 2-0, 14 saves, ERA of 0.40, 10 hits, 1 HR (the only run he's allowed) 5 Bb and 21 K. Hasn't blown a save this year.

100 mph FB inner 3rd, Judge fouls it off. Aside from the FB he has a change he uses maybe once an inning and curve he almost never uses Sinker in the drop the bat happy zone down and in, Judge spoils it Throws a FB to the exact same spot, but Judge just stares, ꓘ, inning over.
It doesn't look like it's happening today, peoples.
Bottom 8, 5-1 Pads. Tonkin likely stays in to face the top of the Padres' order, Arraez, Tatis and Profar.

Arraez falls behind 0-2, then lifts a fly to Verdugo for the 1st out.
Just took a long look at the Wennberg goal, and not only was it a deflection off his stick between his hands, it was intentional, he moved his hands to adjust the stick to cause the deflection. Amazing.

Tatis rolls over on an 0-1 sinker on the inside corner, Cabrera fields, throws him out two down.

1st pitch sinker in the zone up and away to Profar, pops it foul near the stands off 3rd, Cabrera runs over and makes a terrific lunging backhand catch just before it hits the netting. Oswaldo hasn't quit. Let's see if they can do something against Suarez. Verdugo, Stanton and Rizzo for the Yanks in the 9th. Suarez needed just 4 pitches to dispatch Judge.

One batter too late...sigh. Still...impressive. FB just outside middle, and he goes with it to left, Azocar, who came in for Profar goes back there and makes a great leaping try, but it goes off his glove for a solo HR. 2nd run off Suarez this year, 5-2 Padres.

If you're wondering about batter vs. pitcher, none of the Yanks have faced Suarez before. Stanton falls behind 1-2, then takes sinker diving just inside at the knees. It missed, but the ump gave it to him, ꓘ, 1 down. Missed by about 2 inches on Gameday.

Rizzo... FB at the knees outer 3rd, 0-1 Sinker up and away, 1-1 FB on the high inside corner fouled, 1-2 FB runs outside at the top, 2-2 FB outside the zone near the top, Rizzo goes with it, slaps a sinking liner that falls in front of Azocar for a hit. Smith will pinch run.

FB dives to the inside corner waist high, taken, 0-1 If they're lucky he'll give Gleyber a FB waist high away, and Gleyber will be smart enough to go with it to right. Fb at the knees, Torres gets a break, called a ball. 30% on Gameday FB down and in, big swing, fouled, 1-2 Change low/away, taken 2-2 Gets a FB up and in...and just...barely...misses. Deep drive left of center is caught on the edge of the track by Merrill, 2 down.

Yanks do not PH for Trevino with Wells. 99 sinker below middle, grounded to the right of 2nd, Cronenworth gloves and takes it to the bag for the force to end the game.
Disappointing end of the series, Padres avoid the sweep and win 5-2. Yanks did win the series, but the 4-game win streak is over. They drop back to 19 games over .500 at 37-18.
The O's, Sox and Rays all gain a game, the Jays don't. O's are just 2 games back now, and the Sox and Rays move up to 9 back and 10 1/2 back, respectively. The Jays stays 12 1/2 back.
