Yeah, I know he's lost a lot of weight, but I never figured him for a major league player.

With DJ coming back I hope Boone sits Gleyber for a couple games to let him know the small things matter and that he is paying attention.

Almost forgot... Verdugo's 7th HR: 99.3 mph, 351 feet, 27º launch angle, a HR in just 6 of 30 MLB parks. (for the curious, Guaranteed Rate Field (White Sox), Minute Maid Park (Houston), Citizen's Bank Park (Philly), Rogers Centre (Toronto), and Safeco Field (Seattle...sorta doubt it, that's a tough HR park, but OK)
OK...Yanks have a day off tomorrow, then travel to the old House of Horrors in Anaheim. 1st game is 9:38 pm Tuesday on YES. Nestor Cortes tries to finally pitch a good game on the road, he's 3-4 with a 3.29 ERA in 11 starts this season. Angels will throw Griffin Canning, who having a poor season so far, 2-4 with a 5.04 ERA. 2nd game is 9:38 pm Wednesday on YES, the Prime Delayed Video Lame of the Week. Ugh. Luis Gil tries to keep his white-hot run going. He's now 5-1 on the season with a 2.11 ERA. Veteran lefty Tyler Anderson, off to a great start this year at 5-4 with a 2.52 ERA and a terrific WHIP of 1.057, pitches for the Angels. 3rd game is 9:38 Thursday evening back on YES (Yay!). Carlos Rodon looks to turn in his 5th excellent start in a row. He's now 6-2 with a 2.95 ERA in 11 starts. Patrick Sandoval, a very disappointing 2-7 for the Angels with 5.60 ERa and WHIP over 1.500, counters for Anaheim
OK, that's the series preview, so now I check notifications.

Cabrera... FB at the top near middle, fouled FB above the top near middle, fouled off Change tails a foot outside waist high, 1-2 Loses the release on another change, misses two feet outside 2-2 Bends a sharp dropping curve that clips the outside corner for the ꓘ, Cabrera doesn't think so, but he's wrong. 25-30% on Gameday Perfect pitch. Love big curveballs like that. Yep, that one was a beauty.

More ugh than the Rangers blowing a 2 goal lead in the 3rd? ============ Sinker low to Machado, 1-0 Slider outside, 2-0 No! Then we concur.

With DJ coming back I hope Boone sits Gleyber for a couple games to let him know the small things matter and that he is paying attention. Its becoming harder and harder to keep defending Torres. Just so many mental lapses and laziness in the field. I hate to say this but he is costing himself millions of dollars with this walk year. I also no longer look at him as a must going forward.

OK, notifications checked and responded to where needed.
Always a little sad when the Yanks lose, but my sadness is tempered by the Rangers committing grand theft Stanley Cup Playoff game today, and that is tempered by the knowledge they won't get another one of those off the Panthers. I hang on a psychological fence. On one side is the irrational exuberance of feeling that maybe they're the team of destiny and this game proves it; on the other, hard-won life experience telling me the Panthers are clearly the better team, and will do whatever they must to make sure it doesn't happen again. In between lies the magic and suspense of sports: anticipation and prediction is all-but-meaningless; let's watch and see what happens. And of course, game 3 will be opposite the Yanks, I get to watch maybe a period-and-a-half before having to divide my attention again.
And with that pseudo-philosophical proclamation, I'm done for today. Enjoy the off day, but take a moment to think about all those who gave all to make sure we have the freedom to enjoy...anything and everything, including the Yankees and the Rangers. Me? I might watch Band of Brothers again.
I'll be back with you all late Tuesday evening. Good evening to all of you. Bye for now.

At the end of the day Torres is going to be judged, and paid, for his bat.

I'm not a Torre basher, but getting picked off could be seen as a mental lapse, not getting infront of a ground ball, maybe not laziness but certainly not good fundamentals.

His base running over the years has been shaky to say the least. Not only talking about getting picked off like today but just bad base running. The ground ball should have been an easy play. All he had to do was take one more step and he would have been in front of the ball. The error in Game 1 against Seattle in the 9th set up the inning. Should have held onto the ball instead of throwing it away. He also has 7 errors this year in 54 games. Not good. Someone said he will be paid because of his bat but he has 4 hrs and 16 RBIs in 54 games which is 1/3 through the season. That projects real bad for a full season not to mention a .228 average.
If it comes to saving money to pay Soto then its a no brainer. You let him walk.

He got picked off...happens many times to many different players every year. Nothing to do with a "mental lapse". The last time he got picked off...once, 2 years ago. The ball that got by him in the 6th was a hard hit ball (104 mph) that stayed down; could have easily been scored a hit. Had he made the play most would have considered it a nice play. Meanwhile...Rizzo makes an obvious error which cost at least one run and extended the inning...later scored a hit. Didn't see anyone calling him lazy. Classic double standard.

The ground ball that "should have been an easy play" was a 104 MPH rocket. Scored an error...OK...could've just as easily been scored a hit. Now...who wants to break the rest of that inning down?? None of it has anything to do with signing Soto...

How is it that Yankees are sitting this one out? America's quintessential pastime is not played on Memorial Day?
