I'm not a Torre basher, but getting picked off could be seen as a mental lapse, not getting infront of a ground ball, maybe not laziness but certainly not good fundamentals. He got picked off...happens many times to many different players every year. Nothing to do with a "mental lapse". The last time he got picked off...once, 2 years ago. The ball that got by him in the 6th was a hard hit ball (104 mph) that stayed down; could have easily been scored a hit. Had he made the play most would have considered it a nice play. Meanwhile...Rizzo makes an obvious error which cost at least one run and extended the inning...later scored a hit. Didn't see anyone calling him lazy. Classic double standard. I doubt Rizzo is on the '25 roster.

I've gone from being the biggest Gleyber fan and pumper to not even be able to look at him he's so bad ... He needs to be platooned or out the lineup at this point. He's gone after this season ... bring up someone who doesnt have their head wedged up their ass. Actually with DJ coming back now is the time to do that
He got the old line backwards You need to accent the positives and eliminate the negatives Gleyber has accented the negatives and eliminated the positives

I doubt Rizzo is on the '25 roster. IMO that's a given. We may see Ben Rice there, and DJL will probably see a lot of time at 1B, assuming he can stay healthy.

It seems to me if players choose to use the bare hand instead of the glove and don't make the play they are rarely if ever given an error. they

How is it that Yankees are sitting this one out? America's quintessential pastime is not played on Memorial Day? It doesn't make any sense but sometimes it appears that the clowns that run this sport don't even like it.

Xavier Nady? I had to look at the roster of the 2008 Yanks to get that one. I thought for a second that it might have been José Vizcaíno, but he never played for the Padres. I now see that he wasn't even playing MLB in 2008.

With DJ coming back I hope Boone sits Gleyber for a couple games to let him know the small things matter and that he is paying attention. I'm not sure that's going to happen 55, for a few reasons...
I could be wrong, but I'm not sure that benching really plays a role in today's MLB. Plus, the Yankees are likely to let him walk at the end of this season, if they don't trade him before that. Benching would lower his trade value, it also might cause tension in what so far looks like a winning and happy clubhouse. Errors and pick-offs at 1B happen, if Torres makes a habit of getting picked off then Boone can just simply talk to Gleyber if he has anything to say to him.
Last but not least.. Gleyber might be breaking out of his slump, because in his last 4 games he's 5-14 that's a .357 batting average.

Gleyber started this mess! He did, but that loss was a team effort.

But I'm looking at it this way, they flew 3,000 miles just a few days ago and are almost in the middle of a long road trip. So maybe today was a good time for them to rest and recharge their batteries.

I doubt Rizzo is on the '25 roster. I doubt it too. In my opinion if the Yankees re-sign Soto they are going to look to save money at other positions. Holmes is also a free agent, and Cole has an opt-out. The Yankees may or may not want to give Holmes big money, but I can't see the Yankees not re-signing Cole if he opts-out.

Gleyber started this mess! He did, but that loss was a team effort. Let’s take a realistic, unbiased look at that inning…1. E-4 / Cronenworth to 1B. 2. BB / Machado to 1B / Cronenworth to 2B. 3. BB / Solano to 1B / Machado to 2B / Cronenworth 3B. 4. FC* / Merrill to 1B/ Machado to 3B / Cronenworth scores. *Gonzalez fails to cover 1B for DP 5. Base Hit* / Kim to 1B / Merrill to 3B / Machado scores. *(E-3?) 6. Fly out / Campusano flies out to center fielder Aaron Judge. 7. Base Hit / Arraez to 1B / Kim to 3B / Merrill scores. 8. Base Hit / Tatis Jr. singles to 1B / Arraez to 2B / Kim scores. 9. Strikeout / Profar strikes out. 4 Runs on 2 Walks / 3 Hits / 1 Error
