Trevino gets a slider above middle, Schnauel goes way way off first to field, then rushes the throw while Cimber was way off 1st, throws it behind him, gets into the dugout, 2 base error.

I agree he has to take a lead. And that he waited to avoid interfering. But his late lunge into the bag arguably created the contact, and could be judged as interference. I don't like it, but if he steps low and bends down, how can he know to do that?, then maybe they don't call it. I'll wait to see what the league ays about the call. I suspect they'll uphold it. If Soto waited to avoid interfering, then it was not intentional. And, what is being interfered with, as when the infield fly rule is called, the ball is no longer live and need not be caught. It's not that simple, but I don't have time to get into all the details in the middle of doing PBP. |
