Santana misses way low and away, 1-0 on Soler
Sinker near middle, Soler inside outs a liner to right for a leadoff single.
Soto hangs onto the ball then tries to throw behind Soler, but not close to getting him.

Bad slider above middle, but Matos takes it for a strike
Sinker outside corner, served into center, Judge plays it safe, pulls up and takes the single, throws to 2nd to see if he can force Soler, but Soler gets in there, 1st and 2nd, nobody out for Schmitt.

Santana wheels inside, then holds it to see if Schmitt gives away a bunt, but he doesn't show bunt.
Takes a slider down the middle, and Santana is leaving a lot of pitches in the middle.
Cutter at the bottom in the middle, popped back of the mound, infield fly rule, Rizzo comes over stops, Torres comes in, pulls away, DJ looks at it, then looks at the other two, ball falls fair, but it doesn't matter. Schmitt is still out and the runners did not advance.
Looks awful, doesn't matter to the game outcome.

Too bad a Giant base runner wasn't running right behind the mound, we could have got a double play out that.

If my preferred IF rule was in effect, the Giants would have just loaded the bases with no outs… 🛋️…

Not so much. Looks much worse than it really matters. Cutter low/away 1-0 on Fitzgerald Slider misses low near the corner inside, 2-0 Cutter on the low outside corner, missed, 2-1 Cutter inside, breaks his bat on the foul ball. 2-2 Slider in the zone low away, lifted to left, not an infield fly, so Verdugo better catch this one...and he....does. Whew. 2 down. |

FB up and in, he throws his hands up trying to avoid, and it hits him on the hands. Yanks will check replay to see it hit the bat.
Hand down over the knob, hard for it to have hit the knob without hitting the hand. HBP loads the bases with 2 down for Matos.
