Santana should be DFA'd right after this game, the Yankees have relievers in the minor leagues that are better than he is.

Cutter on the outside corner, fouled off, 0-1 on Matos. Bad hanging slider waist high, outer 3rd, lined to left, fairly close to Verdugo but he has no real shot to catch it, falls for a 2 run single, Giants regain the 2 run lead, 5-3. Not exactly the shut down inning they were looking for.
Lefty Victor Gonzalez into the game to relieve Santana, 1st and 3rd, two down and lefty hitter Wisely coming up.

Plz fire Santana into the sun. He has no business being on an MLB roster.

Wisely... FB misses high, 1-0 Sinker misses low, 2-0 Sinker just above middle taken, 2-1 Probbly shouldn't throw that pitch again. And he doesn't, slider diving outside is chased and missed, 2-2 Takes his timeout. Slider well low, barely gets a piece to spoil Slider starts at Wisely, bends just low near the corner inside, and Wisely swings over it for the K, inning over. I think he missed by just about the entire plate or maybe more from the target, but suprising Trevino surprised Wisely as well, so it worked
Top 7, 5-3 Giants. Top of the order for the Yanks in the 7th: Volpe, Soto and Judge.

Santana should be DFA'd right after this game, the Yankees have relievers in the minor leagues that are better than he is. It's not even like there's untapped potential there. He's a journeyman who's been in MLB for parts of 7 season and at his very best, has been mediocre. He's mostly been bad...5.09 career ERA before today. Get him out of here...

Walker comes in to face Volpe and Judge and maybe Stanton (with Soto in between).
Sinker outer 3rd, Volpe fouls it, 0-1 Slider near middle, but Volpe misses late and under, fouling it, 0-2 FB above the zone by an inch or two, fouled. Sinker inside jams Volpe, his soft bouncer well off 1st is taken by Flores, flips underhand to Walker, 1 down.

This is probably why Boone pushed Poteet last night, he knows some of these middle relievers aren't good. He had no choice today.

Soto... Sinker on the inside corner taken, 0-1 Sinker on the outside corner fouled, 0-2. Both about waist high, more or less. Slider winds up inside thigh high, 1-2 Slider at the knees outside middle, pulled foul off 1st. Sidearm FB tails well up and on the outer half Soto chases a bad pitch and K's, 2 down.

Sinker winds up just inside and below middle, and Judge is on it, lines it hard to left for a 2 out single.

Slider thigh high in the middle, taken for strike 1 Slider to the corner away fouled. FB high, taken 1-2 Guesses slider by previous pitches, count and initial location, and winds up staring at a FB outside middle thigh high for the ꓘ, inning over.

In the NL East, the Phillies lost three in a row earlier this week, but have won their last three, so they remain 23 over .500, 1/2 game ahead of the Yanks for the best record in baseball. The Braves are trying to absorb the blows of losing Acuna for the season with a knee injury, as well as multiple starting pitchers. They've lost 4 of 7 and 6 of 9, falling to 8 games over .500 and now trail the Phillies by 7 1/2 games. The Nationals also lost 4 of 7, and at 5 games under, they're 6 behind the Braves and 14 out of first. The Mets season went up in flames this week, at least from a self-respect standpoint. On the field, they had another bad week, losing 4 of 6, are now 10 games under, 2 1/2 behind Washington, 8 1/2 back of Atlanta and 16 1/2 out of 1st. The Marlins split 6 games and are 17 games under .500. Despite the Mets' woes, they're still 3 1/2 behind them, 6 back of the Nats, 12 1/2 behind the Braves and 20 games out of first. [b These games have to be exhausting for you. Thanks again for your amazing contributions while I offer mere bagatelles and trifles… To be sure, a lot of this stuff is canned before the game, and occasionally the night before. All I have to do is wait for an appropriate point and the necesary time to copy and paste it into the thread. But, again, thanks.
