Stanton...
Takes a waist high slider outer 3rd. Sigh.
Lays off a slider missing outside at the knees by 2-3 inches, 1-1
Same pitch perhaps an inch or two further away, 2-1
Slowed his bat down with the 3 sliders, blows the sinker by him waist high, inside corner, 2-2
Didn't blow that one by him, gets a big piece of it, but not big enough. Sinker about 2-3 inches inside thigh high, but Stanton barely misses under, hits a fly to deep center, but Pages goes back and hauls it in to end the inning. Stone just got it inside enough. Barely.
Top 6, 3-2 Dodgers.
Stone gets a shutdown inning, but needs 19 pitches, 83 through 5. Not sure if they send him back out for the 6th.
Bullpen used heavily last night; we'll see.
Ohtani, Freeman and Smith for the Dodgers in the 6th.

You mean lose to the Yankees in the World Series twice?  I love it that all these years later it sill burns him. Smoltz sounds like a guy who is still pissed off because he had a lousy time at his senior prom as someone kept letting the air out of his date. |
