Verdugo commits a little league error. Never make your first step in.

1st pitch slider outer 3rd, slapped hard to left, Verdugo misjudges it completely, comes in then tries to race back, but it's over his head for a 1 out double. Blake out to talk to Nestor. Rare screwup by Alex.

1st pitch cutter inside to Smith served to center, he holds the glove up to try to bluff, but has no chance, lands for a single. Freeman to 3rd with 1 down.

Cortes at only 82 pitches, but his third time through the order troubles continue, aided by Verdugo's error.

Tonkin looks like a 1980s porn star.

Trevino goes out to talk to Cortes. They leave him in to pitch to Hernandez, who has a very good record against Nestor. FB outside ball 1. And Boone goes to lift Nestor to bring in the suddenly crucial reliever Tonkin.

Tonkin threw 19 pitches last night, they hope he can get through Hernandez and Pages without increasing the deficit. They both faced him last night, and they both fanned. Not a great idea to let a mediocre reliever face the same guys two night in a row. Especially good hitters.

Nestor is not pleased because he wasn't pitching very well.

we may be dipping into this Tomkin well too often I would rather be watching Marinnaccio here. Then again, I'd rather be watching the Rangers v. Oilers at MSG this evening, but we can't always get what we want.

Great play by DJ but another run scores.

we may be dipping into this Tomkin well too often Especially facing the same guys two nights in a row, pres. Slider well outside, 2-0 Slider down the middle, taken, 2-1 Foul tips a sinker inside, 2-2 Slider thigh high in the middle, hard smash down 3rd, DJ dives to his backhard, rolls over, throws from a knee and barely forces Smith in 2nd as the run scores, 4-2 Dodgers. Great play by DJ.
