One of my favorite moments of the wild card game was seeing the exuberant look on Judge's face when he hit the home run. Another one was when Judge got a fastball almost off the end of his nose. He got back in the batter's box with a smile...It was a better message than scowling and letting Santana get the pleasure of seeing him riled up, and since Gardner had already homered after getting dusted off earlier in the game, it came across like Judge was thinking maybe he'd do the same...He didn't. Not right then. But then later on, he did...
I've seen him smile like that after several inside pitches this year...Why not? The pitch didn't hit him, right? Show no fear...

I'm not at all discouraged by Severino's start. It was his first post-season start, so he was amped up. I even mentioned to Ruthie that the first pitch he threw in the game was 100 MPH, and he's usually around 97 or 98 until the middle innings when he adds another MPH or too. He was just over-throwing a bit. I'd bet money on the lad in his next start, even if Rothschild has to sit on the mound in a rocking chair beside him to calm him down a bit... Let him start Game 2 versus Kluber! |
