I only saw Willie really play in his last year with the Mets in 1973. He had lost just about everything that made him great by then.
But clearly one of the ten best players ever, then or now. Maybe even top 5.

The Yankees' pen is so thin that they can't afford a suspension, so I doubt any O's hitters get hit unless Nestor does it. I don't see Nestor having that kind of personality.

Have to agree with this...can't afford to lose Nestor for even one turn, with Poteet on the IL. Change below the middle, fouled back, 0-1 FB outside corner, fouled, 0-2 Cutter misses up and away, 1-2 FB above the waist outer 3rd, fouled FB inside corner just below the waist, swung over for the K, 1 down. Cortes at 97 pitches now. That last FB was 94.1. |
