Bryan Baker in to pitch the 8th.
Rice jumps all over a 1st pitch curve inner 3rd, waist high, belted deep down the right side but foul.
Change low, serves a flare off the end of the bat, gets just over Urias for a leadoff single.

But tops a 1st pitch slider hard right to Henderson (108 mph) who starts an easy 6-4-3 DP. Sigh.

Jones hits a two-inch grounder, tagged out by the catcher. He had no idea where the ball went. Unlucky inning for the Yankees. Hardest hit ball was a double-play, the other was barely foul. Only hit was a bloop.

Jones takes a FB at the knees, a 50-50 strike not called. You know what? The Yanks have had much the better of the strike zone calls tonight.
Slider low/away well out of the zone, 2-0
Slider down the middle, tapped in front of home, Jones doesn't know where it is, Rutschman grabs it and tags Jones before he can figure it out. Inning suddenly over.
Top 9, 5-4 O's.
Mateo, then back to the top for Henderson and Rutschman for the O's in the 9th.

Come on DJ. He's been terrible. Kay, how was the Father's Day Celebration? Did your mother cook, or did you guys go out somewhere? On Father's Day we went to Ocean's NYC, a seafood restaurant. Of course, I still ordered the steak. The next day my brother's in laws cooked brunch including some yummy brain masala (made with goat brain)! Then at night we went to a Vietnamese Restaurant. I found out chiyankee was in the city late that night and staying only a few minutes away from our Airbnb. I would have met up with him but it was already late and we were leaving early the next day so we couldn't do it. Sad I missed out on meeting Chi. Next time! |

Cutter above middle, hammeered up the middle past Volpe's dive to his left for a leadoff single to center.
Now, Misiewicz will lose command worrying about the SB, and he's going to steal anyway.

Again, flies open and the cutter backs up and away, ball 4. 1st and 2nd with 1 out for Mountcastle.
Misiewicz in trouble here.
O's can double steal or play it straight. Rutschman with just 1 SB though. But he's fast for a catcher and would be the trailing runner.
Blake out to try to straighten this guy out.

Curve in the drop the bat happy zone, lined hard to left center for a hit. Verdugo right on it, and he gets it before Mateo hits 3rd, so he's held.
Shouldn't send him anyway until Misiewicz proves he can get guys out, a walk and three well hit balls this inning so far.
