I missed the last few innings, can anyone tell me why Gleyber left the game? Tight groin, said Meredith.

This season is reminding me of 2022. Great start, then the look of a totally different team following injuries. The pitching we got the first two months was never sustainable. Hopefully with Cole back, we can at least get solid starts most nights. Gil worries me. He has not looked good at all his last 3 starts and was awful today. The bullpen will cost us a lot of games if we can't figure out a way to upgrade, and scrubs like Hill aren't even a bandaid. I'm not too worried about the bats. Any lineup with Soto and Judge is a threat. The 6-9 spots are a big hole right now, but hopefully at least Gleyber can get going. He's way below his historical norms right now. This is the first patch of significant adversity, let's see if they can pull each other out of it.

This discussion among Kay and the other 2 is true, but also false.
Yes, you have to make good picks. Yes, you can get a pick in the 2nd or 3rd or 10th round that every other team misses on. Yes, you have to develop your picks.
But the ability to take the extreme elite talent available in any draft depends on finishing with a bad record, one of the 5 or 10 worst in baseball. Yes, Trout was a 21st pick, but that type of player is very rare.
Paul Skenes...everyone acknowledges he was the best pitching prospect since Strasburg, but since the Yanks never tank, they had no chance to draft him.

Grisham lifts a first pitch FB to right, Cowser crosses over to make a fine play for the out. Maybe Trevino hurt his arm pitching that night? I'm surprised I didn't remember that before.
1-2 on Stanton.

Baltimore lost between 108 and 115 games for three years, only interrupted by the 2020 season 60-game schedule.

Verdugo... Takes a slider inside middle, 0-1 FB above middle, fouled off, 0-2 Takes his timeout, then a slider low/away, 1-2 FB up and in, Verdugo is late and under, pops foul off 3rd, Urias catches, inning over. Top 9, 16-5 O's.

They've done a great job builing up a dynasty team. Yanks will have to work very hard and get lucky, to compete year-by-year, even if they can convince Soto to re-sign.

Trevino and his weak arm gets to pitch again. Wells now catching.
0-2 curve up and away, Mullins lines it over Jones in right for a leadoff double.
