This is starting to look like 2023 all over. Only difference is we had a better start to the season. The issues that hurt us last year still exist. Watching guys like Rodon is depressing. Same goes for Torres. So tired of his attitude and annual funk. He needs a change in scenery. Add is the annual Rizzo injuey as well as Stanton. You can bank on this happening. Stanton won't be back until August sometime and then will spend 3 weeks clueless at the plate being off balance and swinging at balls 2 feet out of strike zone. I'm glad you're as optimistic as you are. I see the Yanks not even making the playoffs this year, with the Sox actually passing them in the standings. Laugh now. Just remember what I said in September. It's pathetic.

Verdugo... Sinker misses inside near the bottom, 1-0 Sinker thigh high outside middle taken, 1-1 Sinker low in the middle, 2-1 Same sinker as the first pitch, inside, 3-1 Sinker in the zone down and in, taken, 3-2 Sinker right down Broadway at 96, he humps up a bit, and Verdugo misses late and under, pops to Schneider in short left, 1 down.

Rice takes a slurve on the backdoor, 0-1 Gets a fat slurve right down the middle and rolls it over to Guerrero, flips to Berrios covering, 2 down.

There are no words to say… Yes there are! Yes. But this is a family friendly forum, so we won't say them.

Jones takes a slurve inside, ball 1 Gets a slurve right down the middle, hits it hard to deep right center, but Varsho gets the jump, goes back to the track and catches it with a bit of a late lunge, inning over. Easy 1-2-3 for Berrios, just 10 pitches, and 57 through 4.
Bottom 4, 8-0 Jays. Falefa, Guerrero and Turner get their 2rd look at Rodon in the 4th.

Falefa... FB misses just high, called a strike anyway, marginal call there, 0-1 Change to the knees outer 3rd, fouled off. FB up and in, taken 1-2 Change misses low on the corner away, 2-2 Slider waist high inside corner, jams him a bit, liner to the left of 2nd, Volpe backs up, plays it on the hop, and on his heels, his bounced throw doesn't get there in time, leadoff infield hit for Falefa.

Guerrero... FB in the zone up and in, ties him up, his bouncer to 3rd becomes an easy 5-4-3 DP, 2 outs.

This really just isn't a very good baseball team. Soto and Judge, and Volpe to an extent. That's your offense. Verdugo contributes in chunks. Rizzo and Stanton cannot be counted on for over 120 games, they get hurt every year. On top of that, they have zero depth. Cole and Nestor are your rotation. Rodon and Gil had ridiculously strong starts but have fallen off a cliff. Not surprising with Gil, and it's kind of who Rodon is...inconsistent. the bullpen is a shaky, but mostly effective closer in Holmes, an overachieving Tonkin and a bunch of AAAA guys. Unless we get a lot of guys overachieving again, I don't see how they break out of this spiral. I guess it's possible given the first 70 games, but I wouldn't bet on it.
At what point does Cashman get held accountable for his poor roster construction and all the bad contracts he's handed out? How much rope does a dynasty from over two decades ago (built mostly by Sticks) and one title 15 years ago buy?

In the Post Game I can hear Vlad Jr saying "I take my comments back I don't want to play for this that team"

Turner... FB outside, ball 1 FB just outside and below middle middle, taken, 1-1 Cutter into the top in the middle, fouled, 1-2 Change tails outside, 2-2 Backdoor slider waist high fools Turner, takes it for the ꓘ, inning over. 11 pitches for Rodon in the 4th, 87 through 4. Top 5, 8-0 Jays. Wells, Cabrera and Grisham for the Yanks in the 5th.

Honestly this is just laughable. Can't even be mad or frustrated. Everything is going wrong for this team. It’s all stemming from the starting pitching (specifically Gil and Rodon). 1) Opposing pitchers settle in with an early lead making it tough for a shorthanded offense 2) Bullpen is getting tired 3) Bad relief pitchers have to pitch more Gil and Rodon need to be replaced ASAP or this season is shot. Welcome to the board, hiphip20!

How much rope does a dynasty from over two decades ago (built mostly by Sticks) and one title 15 years ago buy? Most of us thought (before the season) the team would struggle to make the postseason, but that they'd be somewhat better than last year because of Soto and Verdugo. The extremely fortunate start of both the rotation and the pen disguised the underlying problems for two months, but...regression to the mean is a beach, and it seems far worse that they started by playing .700 ball and are now playing .200 ball for two weeks. if they had gone .530 the whole way along and were fighting for a wild card day by day, things would seem...well, what we expected all along.

Wells rolls over on a change low and away, grounds out to Falefa, 1 down.
