Bases loaded again, this time for the hot Springer, 2-1 Jays, and Stroman is out of the game after 4 1/3 innings and 88 pitches.
What you're looking at is the limitations of the kitchen sink junkballer who lacks the swing and miss stuff necessary for the contemporary game, gang.

not a good look by Stroman The breaks went against him a bit, they were working in his favor in many games earlier this season, but not tongint on this turf. But if he wants to get upset, let him get upset at himself for not being able to get a lot of CSW with his subpar stuff. |

Tonkin comes into high leverage.
Gets Springer to swing over a sharp 2 plane sinker, down and in, 0-1.
Sinker closer to the zone but still inside, bounced by DJ down the 3rd base line, but just foul. WHEW!
Slider bounced way outside, but Trevino saves it with a great backhand snag.
Sinker runs away up and in, hits Springer on the hand or arm, forcing in a run, 3-1 Jays, and this one is about to be put out of reach.

Stroman's CSW tonight is an OK 26%, but really he got 4-5 called strikes on pitches that weren't close to strikes, so his real CSW was more like 18%, which is very subpar in the modern game.

didn't care for stroman's antics there. certainly victimized by some soft contact, but can't pin in on the fielders by also by his lack of command.

Slider drops onto the backdoor up in the zone, 0-1
Swings over a sharp breaking slider down and in that way was off target and Trevino has to lunge to his backhand to prevent a wild pitch.
Sinker into the top outside middle, spoiled, still 0-2
Slider bounces a bit away, Vlad gambles and comes home, Trevino doesn't like the odds of a short flipt to Tonkin who doesn't fully see the runner, and dives over home ahead of Vlad, tagging him out. Brilliant desperate play by Treivno to save the Yanks there.
