Wells squares to bunt, bunts foul on a low sinker, 0-1. Terrible bunt attempt.
And then he shows why Boone wanted to bunt, hits a sinker hard but right to Mateo, and he starts an easy 4-6-3 DP, 2 down, nobody on.

Volpe fouls off a sinker inside, 0-1
Takes a slider 2 feet outside, 1-1
Change thigh high, inside middle, grounds it to Westburg near 2nd, throws him out, inning over.
Bottom 8, 3-2 O's.
Weaver will stay in to pitch to Mouontcastle, Santander and Westburg. He's at 13 pitches to start the 8th.
Mountcastle 0-2 vs. Weaver
Santander is 0-5 with 2 K's.
Westburg is 2-3, a couple of singles.

Mountcastle takes a waist high FB outside by 2-3 inches, 1-0
Change above and inside middle and Mountcastle just misses, flies out to Verdugo irunning it down on the track in deep left, 1 down.

Santander hammers a mislocatied cutter near middle, drives it to ceep right center, Soto lunges late, can't reach it, goes to the wall behind him for a 1 out triple.

Infield in, and Boone lifts Weaver to try to get a strikeout from Cousins.
Mullins will come in to pinch run for Santander.
A squeeze is possible here. I don't think it's likely, but it's possible. Wells has to be alerr for bounced sliders as well.

Westburg is 0-1 vs. Cousins.
Bad slider just below and outside middle, but Westburg misses, fouling it. Whew. 0-1
Slider bounced well outside, and Wells saves a wild pitch and a run.
Slider in the zone low away, grounds to Cabrera, contact play on and he throws out Mullins at home. Almost a routine play. Man on 1st, 2 down for Hays, who's faced Cousins once and walked

You have to give credit to the Tonkin/Hill/Cousins trio. There's no way the Yankees thought these guys would be this good.
