Solid lefty middle reliever Andrew Chafin in to pitch to Verdugo. I thought the Yankees might be interested him during the trade deadline.

FB inner 3rd, Verudgo late and under, flies to Langford in left, inning over.
Top 7, 6-1 Yanks. 7-8-9 for the Rangers in the 7th, Garcia, Taveras and Kelly, or maybe a pinch hitter.

O's and Rays are 1-1 going top 8 in Tampa. Astros pounding the Red Sox 10-0, bottom 6th, looking for the sweep in Fenway. A's hammering the Jays, 8-1, bottom 7 in Toronto

Garcia chases a big breaking slider going low and away, 0-1 Takes another further low and away, 0-2 Takes his timeout Takes a sinker an inch or two low, Wells tries to pull it up, no sale, 2-1 Starts the slider at him, freezes him, hits the corner inside above the waist, 2-2 Slider on the corner low and away, Garcia goes with it, knocks it just out of DJ's reach through the 34 hole for a leadoff single.

Boone lifts Cousins, goes to Kahnle because the change gets lefties as well as righties. At least so far this year. Righties batting .195 against him, lefties, .159.

Kahnle comes set, then steps off. Maybe a problem with pitchcom. Wells goes out there to talk it over with the ump.

Why not go to signs, Kay? It's obvious, they use pitchcom to avoid sign stealing, and if you go back to signs, you're giving up that potential advantage.

Change yanked way inside, Taveras jackknifes a bit, 1-0 Change to the outside corner, thigh high, taken, 1-1 Bad change winds up diving down the middle of the zone, Taveras misses, fouling it back, 1-2 Takes his timeout. Flies open on a FB misses more than a foot outside, near the top, 2-2 Change dives below the knees in the middle, Taveras late and under, pops foul behind 3rd, Chisholm moves quickly right, catches, 1 down.

Kelly bats for himself... Change bounced outside, Wells blocks, saving a wild pitch, 1-0 Change dives low and a bit outside, 2-0 Gotta get this guy, Kahnle. Cannot walk him. Change dives low near the corner away, Kelly checks, 1st base ump says he went, and the side view confirms, close but a swing. Takes a change above the knees near middle, 2-2

Change low in the zone, topped down 3rd, Chisholm dives, fields tries to throw before he has a grip, fumbles it, infield hit. Bad luck again, but it might set up a big inning for the Rangers.

bummed after a terrible round of golf, seeing the a 6-1 lead has cheered me up a bit. looks like a sold start by stroman. and offensively it's been the stanton show picking up where he left off yesterday.
