Maybe someday the Cashman will get a longman in the the pen so the relievers don't get burnt out by starts like this one. You need to have at least 6 credible starters to have a long man. Yanks don't have 6. They barely have 5. Now 4, with Gil's injury. Is Gil really injured? After taking a windup with a runner on first? Maybe his brain is injured. BUT, if he is really injured, I hope it isn't bad. |

Volpe takes a change thigh high in the middle, 0-1
FB at the top in the middle, late and fouled off.
Takes a change low, 1-2
Takes a slider well inside, 2-2
Chases a slider low and inside, fouled
Same change as the first one, thigh high middle, hammered to deep left center, goes to the wall, then send Trevino and catch Gimenez napping, looks at 3rd, doesn't throw home. Yanks tie it at 3!!

At least has Hill gets as many warmups as he needs. He certainly didn't have enough time to get loose while Gil was still in there. Really the one negative of the Soto trade. The Yanks could really use King and Vazquez right now, maybe even Brito. I was in a very small group of fans who did not think the trade was a great deal for he Yankees. Curve starts in the zone, drops low on the inner 3rd, not all that far low, but low enough, swings over for the K. 2 down Big time RISP fails here.
