Looks like we Gator fans are in for another long season. They looked bad at home against Miami with a porous defense and only 122 passing yards. They also have the toughest schedule in the nation. The over/under on Napier keeping his job is 5 games. Hey rizzuto , I see LSU is ranked either 12th or 13th in the preseason polls. Good luck on your season, sir.

Yeah, I see Miami's QB is now with his fourth team after previous stops across the defunct PAC-12 at USC, Oregon and Washington State. College football in 2024, where Utah trounced mighty Southern Utah behind a quarterback in his seventh season. And an actually ranked (22) Kansas squad opened its schedule by dismembering a school called Lindenwood of which I was previously unaware. In looking them up I learned that Lindenwood is in fact the second-oldest college west of the Mississippi, after the Billikins of St. Louis University. Founded in 1832 as the Lindenwood School For Girls, which I like to think is not the official name today. Maybe my favorite first week game was the 77-0 beatdown the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks administered to NAIA sacrificial lamb North American University. Another school I never heard of. What I liked about this contest was that Austin, which I don't particularly associate with Lumberjacks, led by 70-0 at halftime despite only throwing eight passes. To bring the suffering to a quicker end, the third and fourth quarters were only five minutes each, with no stopping the clock. Rizzuto's team has a Sunday night game with newly-minted Big Ten school USC. Definitely wishing the Bayou Tigers good fortune in that one. How wonderful that USC and Oregon are now in the same conference as Maryland and Rutgers. Makes perfect sense. And two-minute warnings in college football now. I didn't see that one coming. Oh yeah, one last observation -- Ohio State crushed the Akron Zips. No surprise there, but what did surprise me was learning that Ohio State's payroll for it's (cough cough) student athletes is more than the entire athletic budget for Akron.

The NFL season just started. Ravens at Chiefs.
These new kickoffs are going to be hard to get used to.

Chiefs just have knack of pulling games like that out. Yep, for a second I thought the last play by the Ravens was a TD. Had that been ruled a TD, it looked like the Ravens were going to go for 2.
