Gets a sinker down the middle, Soto tries to drive it the other way, gets under it by a hair, and just misses another 3-run HR, deep fly to left, Nootbaar goes back to his right, makes a small leap against the wall and catches. Not an easy play, but didn't rob a HR, it was in the park. Inning over. Yanks rally for 2 more and tie it at 7, going top 7. 3-4-5 for the Cards in the 7th: Arenado, Goldschmidt and Herrera.

The Yankees aren't going to come out and say they are keeping a top prospect in the minors because they want to manipulate his ROY status for 2025 and increase their chances of grabbing an extra high draft. Cashman thinks he's some kind of genius. I think the Verdugo stuff is secondary. They'd reduce their chances in the division race and playoffs in the "all in" Soto year just on the off chance Jasson wins the ROY next year for a post 1st round pick? That may be stupider than thinking Verdugo is the better option. This front office is really something. I think Cashman feels they'll make the playoffs with or without Dominquez.

Soto's inning ending flyout was 103.7 and a HR in 8 of 30 parks. Take that, Smoltz. Not a HR at the Stadium.

Well, he has a single to day, a bullet grounder that was hit at the 2nd baseman for a DP and a deep drive to left that just stayed in and not a huge 3 run HR. I hope it's a sign of better results to come.

Cousins still in there. Slider low/away, 1-0 Slider barely on the low outside corner, 1-1 Slider outside, 2-1 Sinker up and in makes him back off, 3-1 Sinker misses well outside, ball 4.

Lead off walk. Not good.

Nothing like having a big rally to tie the game and then have your reliever walk the leadoff hitter the next inning.

But they could really his bat IN the playoffs. I'm hoping that they call him up in a few days or a week as left open by Boone's comments (see misc. thread).

Goldschmidt 0-3 vs. Cousins. Sinker inside, 1-0 Sinker outside and below middle, taken, 1-1 Slider well outside, Goldschmidt checks in time, 2-1 Slider backed up to the inside corner, but he fouls it off. Mistake there, that he got away with. 2-2 Sinker chases him inside, and he's tied up and fouls it. Slider on the outer 3rd, Goldschmidt gives up on it, but it hits the outer 3rd, thigh high, ꓘ, 1 down.
