If you look at the replay ... would've been real tough for Soto to get that ball. He wouldve had to have been running full speed at Gleyber Whether it was Sotos ball or not to call, Gleyber was camped between the ball and Soto (because he misplayed/overran it) basically taking Soto out of the play Put it this way ... Does Jeter or Volpe make a similar play in Left? I say pretty easily I looked at the replay. I could be wrong because I can't read minds, but in my opinion, because of where the ball hit the grass it looks like they both misjudged the baseball. Or Maybe Soto was getting out of Torres' way? I don't know. Also, in my opinion, on popups like that the OFer should call off the infielder because it's an easier catch for the OFer.
Anyway, what counts is that the Yankees won, and are 2 games ahead of the Orioles in the loss column.

I know what you are saying ... it looked like both of them were running to the wrong spot. I think Soto might have been reading Gleybers eyes like a cornerback reading a WRs eyes

Torres is good at pop ups, so I was surprised he didn't make the play. Rodon was too. No 2B makes that play on a popup to shallow RF better than Gleyber. So, yeah...watch the replay. Soto obviously pulls up well before he could've easily made that play...which is his to make. It's his responsibility to call the IF off, which he obviously didn't do. Some people see what they want to see. BTW...it wasn't an "easy" play...regardless.
