Intetionally Walking Devers with noone on base and 1 out in the 4th inning was one of, if not the most cowardly moves I have ever seen in professional sports
Oh and Cole was Pitching a no hitter at the time and had showed a pair of balls by hitting Devers in his first AB !!!!!
This is why, as I've always said, Gerrit Cole is not and will never be a true ACE !!!
He's a great pitcher who lacks toughness and can never be relied on to shutdown rivals or opponents in a big game.
Hopefully Cole does not bring the Yankees down with this cowardly move and reverse what was starting to look like a special season following Judges dramtic Grand Slam !
Cole you are a clown and should be ashamed of yourself !!!!!

I doubt this will mean much to the Yankees season except one loss in the standings but it's a hit to Cole's reputation for sure. It's a really bad look.

Hopefully ... but if the Yankees lose the Div or the AL best record by a game ...That's on Cole It could mean a lot next season when we are facing the Sox ... they wont forget that they own Cole |

Hopefully ... but if the Yankees lose the Div or the AL best record by a game ...That's on Cole It could mean a lot next season when we are facing the Sox ... they wont forget that they own Cole Hard to pin it all on Cole if that situation were to arise considering all the other baffling losses to bad teams, blown saves by Holmes, and other leads coughed up by the bullpen. Not to mention the countless games the bats no-showed and wasted good pitching. |

at the end of the day just another loss. probably doesn't make the top losses of the season list. 11 of those belong to clay holmes.
but yeah it's definitely a bad look for cole. clearly devers is very much in his head and the red sox own him (6+ ERA) and that is not a good thing. better hope we don't get the red sox in the PS. and if we do, i'm not pitching cole game 1 or game 7. against that lineup game 1 is cortes and game 2 is rodon. definitely a problem when your ace can't be trusted against your hated rival.

But you gotta wonder about a coaching staff and a $400 M player who thought that walking the leadoff batter in the 4th inning of a game where you have lead is a good idea. What's next ? The sac bunt with 2 outs ? The balk to avoid the SB ? Heck, maybe we just run the bases in reverse order to increase XBH ! It's been a long time since the Yankees had a triple. What are those clowns thinking ? |
