Found this article to be interesting. www.pinstripealley.com/2024/9/16/24245776/yankees-mlb-playoff-roster-projection-2024-lineup-starting-rotation-bullpen-alds-wild-cardI think one of the more interesting decisions will be which of the starting pitchers are used in that role during the playoffs and how the remainders are used in the BP. Not sure I agree with the author and think Gil may get the nod over Cortez but whomever is the choice may only be expected to go 4 innings all out with the other picking up the slack. Would like to see Dominguez or Verdugo get hot and grab the LF spot. It's really a bit dissapointing that Leiter Jr. didn't give us the results we expected.

I know many here are down on Verdugo, but he's actually produced over the past month. Dominguez will get his share of playing time over the next 12 games to determine whether he or Verdugo deserve the most post season starts. Even then Boone will likely play it game-to-game. Maybe even sit Stanton, depending on what he's been doing.

yeah only real position up for grabs is LF. the yankees have always preferred defense in games that matter. the martian's offense these last 2 weeks would have to force their hand to make that change. and agree, though overall a disppointment after a promising start, verdugo has been "warm" lately for the most part having good ABs. his offense this season will remain a mystery but think it started with too many crashes into the wall.
in the rotation, cole & rodon are locks w cortes having the inside track on #3. would like to say gil, but the walk thing doesn't play well in the PS. however the yankees do have an abundance of riches with perhaps their best rotation since the championship years. you can certainly piggy-back either gil or schmidt. don't really see any role for stroman except maybe to eat innings in a blowout.

The love affair with Verdugo baffles me but I will be more than surprised if they move on from him in the playoffs. With all the starters healthy, I don't think any of them are going to be allowed to go very deep into games, even Cole.

Since diagnosed and treated he’s back to himself. A good, but not great player that can help us…

I know league average OPS is down this year but I it is still in the 715 renge.

Casey Peterson isn't going to be invited to parties at the Boone homestead this offseason. Few Yankee fans want to be reminded of IKF playing SS in the postseason. And about as many have confidence in Boone and the Brain Trust going into the playoff this year. Casey sure ain't doing anything to change that situation !

Pat, I didn't see it as negatively as you did. I thought he was implying that the Yankees were learning from past mistakes and readying players for different roles before the playoffs begin. I guess the comment about not bringing up the Martian sooner is a legitimate criticism but having him as an option and using some of the SPs in the pen as the season winds down was viewed favorably.

Would you pitch Nestor over Rodon in the playoffs at this point?

Would you pitch Nestor over Rodon in the playoffs at this point? Good question, but I think they'll still go with Rodon.
