Rojas... Takes a sinker inside above the knees, 1-0 Slider in the zone above and inside middle, 1-1 Sinker in the zone in the drop the bat happy zone, and Rojas jumps on it, but his hard grounder goes right to Rizzo, who takes it to the bag to end the inning. Schmidt lucky, 10 feet to the left and it's a 3 run double, 10 feet to the right it's at least an infield hit. 99.2 on the hard grounder by Rojas, actually the hardest hit ball of the inning.
Top 2, 3-0 Mariners. Dominguez, Rizzo and Trevino for the Yanks in the 2nd.

Playing the outfield in the larger stadiums of MLB does take a bit of an adjustment, not to mention he's probably more comfortable with the ball coming off the bat toward CF, not LF. It's the rookie growing pains that you have to live with.

It's only 3-0? I would've expected it to be 10-0 by now. Gotta love all these hangover games after playoff clinchers! Amazing how 1/3 of the teams get drunk for something so meaningless! But I'm sure the partying activity sells booze, and in the end, that's what it's all about!

Dominguez... FB waist high, outside corner, fouled off, 0-1 Takes a splitter low and outside, 1-1 Swings over a sharp slider going down and in, 1-2 Takes a slider low near middle, 2-2 Thigh high slider, outer 3rd, Dominguez goes with it hard up the left center gap, pulls into 2nd with a leadoff double.

I felt like this was gonna be an ugly game today. Playing hung over on a day game after a night game, on the west coast, on getaway day when you have to be up early to pack all your stuff. It's not an optimal situation.

Rizzo... FB on the low inside corner, pulled foul off 1st. Slider on the outside corner, hit high to medium deep left, Arozarena goes back, battles the sun, catches, 1 down.

Trevino... Jammed by a FB on the inside corner, rolls it over to Rojas at 3rd, checks Dominguez, throws out Trevino, 2 down. Yanks already 0-4 with RISP, and they're not out of the 2nd inning yet.

FB on the high outside corner, taken, 0-1 Sinker below middle, hit hard through the 34 hole, the send Dominguez, and Raley makes a great throw to nail him at home, Yanks finally get a hit with RISP and it scores no one, results in the 3rd out of the inning.
Bottom 2, 3-0 Mariners. 10 pitches in the 2nd for Gilbert, 29 through 2. Schmidt threw 26 in his 1st inning. Top of the order for the M's in the 2nd: Rodriguez, Raleigh and Arozarena.

If only Rizzo or Trevino would have advanced Dominquez to third, he would have scored easily. Basic baseball.

Watching that replay, I've got to wonder if players are taught to take secondary leads anymore.
