I disagree with Jeff Nelson. Celebrate when you finish first...not when you merely did what 9 other teams will also do. Last night's celebration was meaningless...today's hangover was not! LOL

Stanton flinches a bit on a slider up and in that drops into the zone, 0-1
Pulls off a curve low and outside, 0-2
Yanks a curve about 57 feet and outside, 1-2
Good two plane splitter starts near middle, dives low on the inner 3rd, Stanton early and over it for the K, inning over.
Yanks get back into it on the 2-run shot by Chisholm, trail 3-2, going bottom 3rd.
17 pitches in the 3rd for Gilbert, 46 through 3.
Polanco, Crawford and Moore for the M's in their half of the 3rd inning.
Chisholm's 23rd HR: 105.7 mph, 389 feet, 25° launch angle, a HR in 24 of 30 parks.

Based on Dominguez fielding and Stanton inconsistency, I would DH Dominguez against righties. If Judge DHs much and Stanton sits Stanton will be useless as a periodic DH

Tries to bunt a sinker inside, bunt foul, 2-1
Curve in the middle at the knees, not called, bad call, 40% on Gameday. 3-1
Sinker below the knees in the middle, rolled over to Rizzo near 1st, takes it to the bag, 2 down.

Moore gets a 1st pitch sinker inside middle, jams him a bit, but he muscles a flair into short right center for a 2-out single.

Cutter drops into the zone near the high outside corner 1-1
Gets a bad cutter in the middle, thigh high, flips the bat down in disgust with himself that he didn't jump all over that location error, then takes his timeout.
Cutter down and in, Moore steals his 30th base. 3-2
Pitch clock violation on Schmidt, ball 4. Getting Rodriguez in there with 2 on and 2 outs.

Top 4, 3-2 Mariners.
16 pitches in the 3rd for Schmidt, 66 through 3. Outside chance he can still get through 5 innings.
Dominguez, Rizzo and Trevino for the Yanks in the 4th.

2 more baserunners...geez...Schmidt has nuthin' today. Actually, considering the poor effort the team gave him in the first inning (hangover blues), I'd say he's having a really good game keeping it close. |
