In games of import today:
The Twins and Red Sox play a split double-header in Fenway Park and in the first game, the Sox blasted the Twins 8-1, damaging their Wild Card hope further. Pivetta got the win and Lopez took the loss. In the nightcap at 5:35 pm, struggling rookie Zebby Matthews (1-3, 6.30 ERA) throws for the Twins; worldwide HR leader Kutter Crawford (8-15, 4.19 ERA) starts for the Sox.
At 1:35 pm in Camden Yards, the Tigers and Orioles play the rubber game of their series, and the Tigers lead the O's 4-3 in the 9th.
The Rays host the Jays in the GhastlyDome™ and lead the Jays 3-2 in the 8th.
At 2:10 pm in Kaufman Stadium, the Royals are trying to avoid getting swept right out of a Wild Card, but are down 2-0 in the 9th to the Giants.
At 2:35 pm in Arlington, the Mariners are trying to stay in the Wild Card race by going for the sweep against the Rangers. It's working so far, the M's are up 4-0 in the 6th.
And in about two minutes, the Yanks say sayonara to the Coliseum and Oakland, last game for them in the Mausoleum (the A’s have one more home series and will close the building and turn off the lights against the Rangers on Thursday afternoon), it’s Gil vs. Estes
Whew, didn't think I'd get it all in on time, but it's done.

Torres gets a FB down the middle, grounds it to the left of 2nd, Wilson was playing in the hole, so it goes into left-center for a leadoff single. Good start.

Slider in the zone up and away, again fouled off.
Slider in the middle at the bottom, fouled
FB above the top, Wells chases as usual, popped to Schuemann a bit off of 3rd, he catches, inning over.
Leadoff single goes nowhere, 0-0, going bottom 1.
17 pitches in the 1st for Estes.

Change inner 3rd, popped over the screen behind the plate halfway to the dugout on the 1st base side.
FB way way high, 2-1
Slider breaks outside at the top, 3-1.
This is just...bad.
FB at the top swung on and missed, 3-2
Runner goes, FB yanked low, ball 4.
You can't pitch against good teams in the playoff like this.
