The Dodgers have been hot down the stretch, despite not knowing what they have for a rotation for the post-season; their lineup is that powerful. They’re the division champs and the best team in the regular season this year, and can be the only team with a winning percentage over .600 if they blast the Rockies in Coors again today. The Padres locked up 2nd and the top Wild Card by beating the D’backs on Friday, they quietly have the same record as the Yanks and will take homefield in the World Series from them if both teams get there with a win today if the Yanks lose, the Yanks still hold the tiebreaker there, having won 2 of 3 in San Diego on the 1st West Coast trip. The Dodgers have won 10 of their last 13; the Padres have played .700 ball (43-18) for over two months. The Diamondbacks are still fighting to get a Wild Card; the best thing they have going for them is that they’re tied with the Mets. Arizona is 88-73. The Giants can finish at even .500 with a win against the Cards at home. The Rockies have been bad down the last week and are tied with the Marlins for the worst record in the league at 61-100.
And that concludes The Sunday Standings™ for this week and the season. See you in 45 minutes for today's game.

Start of the game delayed by rain, I'll be back when/if it begins. Gonna try to keep track of my fantasy team for now.
See you later.

Clark Schmidt makes the last start of the regular season for the Yanks. He was on his way to establishing himself as a solid #3-4 starter when he went down with a lat injury in June. It took him 3 months to get back, and he’s pitched OK in 4 starts in his return, but hasn’t won any of them: 0-2 with a 2.61 ERA, 21 K and 6 walks in 20 2/3 innings. On the season, Schmidt is 5-5 with an ERA of 2.55. In 15 starts, he’s pitched 81 1/3 innings, allowing 68 hits, 27 runs, 23 earned, 8 HR, 26 BB and 88 K’s. His WHIP is a very good 1.156. Today is his first ever game against the Pirates. I personally think Schmidt has stuff good enough to make him the Yankee's #2 starter, only behind Cole. I think he has a great change-up and quality control, while not giving up the dingers Rodon does. It'll be interesting to see how he does in the post season!

His control is better, but not the command all the time. Makes too many mistakes waist high, or middle of the plate. He's still a work in progress. Long-term, he might be a solid #3, I think, if he stays healthy.

I'm so old, that when we say "Yankees rain delay," I'm thinking "Good, here comes an episode of The Abbott and Costello Show!"

They pulled Judge probably because of the bad conditions.

I'd get Judge off the field in a meaningless, rainy game.

Already edited the lineups above in my pre-game.

It rained much harder yesterday... all day! Today is just a high mist.. I don't know why they're delaying the game!
