You're right, took a quick look and his splits against lefties are bad, small sample size and I don't know if that's been the case in the minors but still may rule out a platoon. actually if you were gonna do it, you'd play dominguez against righties and verdugo against lefties. this season at least against lefties, dugo's splits are close.
and like i've said, don't rule out them rolling the dice and giving dominguez a start against a righty and letting him get 2, maybe 3 ABs before turning to verdugo. on the other hand, with his performance, not sure he's earned even that.

I suspect they will both start post season games. Not sure how Boone will make the decision as who plays, maybe matchups, maybe gut. He also has a decision to make on the game 3 starter. Whomever he choses between Gil and Schmidt will be on a short leash. Someone else mentioned all SPs will be on a short leash in the playoffs and that's probably true. Obviously Cole will be given a longer leash than either Gil or Schmidt. It may come down to who the Yanks feel might be more comfortable pitching out of the pen but both pitchers have done this in the past. The other decision is 1B. I have a feeling Rizzo gives it a go but if he is not effective I think they will go with OCab.

After Rice had his 3 homerun game back on July 6th, he hit .109/.203/.228/.431 (11-101), with 3 HR, 11 RBI, 3 2B, 0 3B, 12 BB, 39 K
That is ghastly.
I don't see how you play him. OCab should probably be the guy. Rice just adds nothing at all at this point.
Geeez, going back to August 2nd, he's .053/.159/.053/.212 (2-38), 0 HR, 1 RBI, 5 BB, 13 K.
He's simply overmatched by MLB pitching.

Yankees get some days off. No game till Saturday, but we know it will be at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees will either face division foe the Orioles or their foe from the 70's/80's in the Royals. Will post Roster in this thread when it is available. In the mean time any guessing who is on the roster ? I'm not fond of the MLB postseason format. Because if the Orioles and the Tigers each win their postseason series, a Yankees team that finished with the best record in the AL would play the Orioles instead of a weaker Tiger team.
Sorry, but in my opinion, that makes no sense to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

IIRC, he wasn't a big K guy in the minors but after the HR barrage he started K'ing alot more. I was hoping he was going to be Tino Martinez but he could end up being Kevin Maas.

In my opinion, before he was sent back to Triple A, Rice looked like he's trying to pull the ball way too much.

His K-rate in the minors isn't good, but it isn't outrageous either - 24.9% this season, 23.4% for his career. It's 31.6% this year with the Yanks, but it jumped to 38.6% over his last 101 ABs. Seems like the league figured him out because instead of gaining confidence from that 3 HR game and building off of it, he went right in the toilet.

Rice's K rate is just over 19% for his minor league career and just under 19% at AAA 27% in the MLB K Rate is base on PA not ABs

Well they get the 5 seed so almost the lowest I think the Royals are better to play in a short series than the Tigers would be. Obv not saying the Royals are a bad team or anything, but Yankees just match up better with them.
