Yankees get some days off. No game till Saturday, but we know it will be at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees will either face division foe the Orioles or their foe from the 70's/80's in the Royals.
Will post Roster in this thread when it is available. In the mean time any guessing who is on the roster ?

As good a guess as any, Kaybli. I do wonder about DJ in the 1B mix though…who would you sit for him? Rice? Berti? …

I know Boone will get tempted to start him against a lefty though. I don't know about his health at this point. I don't know if he's an option.

I really dont want the Orioles C: Austin Wells (Wouldn't be Surprised if they went with Trevino vs a LH Starter) 1B: Oswaldo Cabrera (I don't think there is any way that they start Rice) 2B: Gleyber Torres SS: Anthony Volpe 3B: Jazz Chisholm Jr. LF: Alex Verdugo (Dominguez was a butcher in the OF ... cant have that to start the playoffs) CF: Aaron Judge RF: Juan Soto DH: Giancarlo Stanton

4 injuries a week or so before the PS really sucks. seems the clearest is cousins who throws a bullpen tuesday then faces hitter thursday so he "should" be ready for the alds. guy has been a surprise and major cog in the pen providing a weapon and options for boone. rizzo not so clear. last i heard is the "play with pain" thing. he's tough but not sure how that will impact his effectiveness. his bat was "heating" up but more than anything, his glove is his calling card. to me PS comes down to pitching, defense with enough timely hitting. rizzo brings the dee at 1st, saving many errant throws by chisholm and volpe. rice's glove at 1B is suspect and despite how hot he was at scranton, yesterday in his first action, he K'ed twice. cortes' return murky as well. elbow flexor strain sounds like more than a 15 day IL stint. guy for the most part was very solid as a starter and if healthy, would be my choice to start against a strong lefty lineup in the PS and certainly be a solid addition to the bullpen. have no interest in seeing dj. guess if they have the roster spot, he could be a late inning replacement for rice. regarding the martian and verdugo, when push comes to, think they'll go with verdugo. in the PS, when every out is huge (just like at 1B) you absolutely cannot have a misplayed fly ball. you don't have 161 games to make up for it. here the defense "trumps" offense. they'll trade verdugo rolling over pitches for any offense the martian might bring. and since his callup, he really hasn't been brought that much. if he gets any starts, maybe it'll be for a couple ABs before dugo is brought in for defense. see the martian's role if he makes the roster as a PH'er.
and stanton will be starting every game, so they'll be no judge DH'ing.

I think they'll go with Verdugo too. Dominquez only hit .171 in the majors, the injuries killed his season so much that he didn't have enough time to get into any kind of grove. He's just another case of all the bad luck the Yanks had with injuries in their farm system this season.

You're right, took a quick look and his splits against lefties are bad, small sample size and I don't know if that's been the case in the minors but still may rule out a platoon.

this team usually plays things rather conservatively and at this point in the season with what's on the line, don't think they take a chance an a shakey, unknown commodity especially with the additional pressure of the PS.
