Not feeling too hot about seeing Gil again after tonight. He looks like the worst version of himself. Moment might be too big for him. He wasn't pitching well down the stretch, which is why Schmidt got the game 3 start vs. the Royals. Also hasn't pitched in 20 days. Yeah, it was a cocktail of concerns that are playing out. Struggled down the stretch, rust, and jitters.

Boone, this is IT for Gil. You have to take him out after this inning.

Gil looks in, then steps off FB inside at the bottom, fouled off, 0-1 FB at 97, outside corner waist high, swung under, 0-2 Overthrown FB about 6 inches high, relatively easy take, 1-2 Bad slider above and inside middle, pulled foul hard off 1st. Got away with a bad one there. Doesn't remotely finish the pitch, FB way high, Wells has to lunge up to prevent the WP, 2-2 Slider in the drop the bat happy zone down and in, hammered foul off 1st. May I suggest you stop throwing sliders in the zone to this guy. FB, didn't finish it again, runs well outside, 3-2, and the runners will be going.

Gil is a work in progress. I hope if the Yankees make it to the WS they only use a 3 man rotation of Cole, Rodon and and Schmidt. I don't think there's any chance of that happening. They would use Stroman before they go to a three man.

So probably looking at at least 6 innings from the pen. Probably means we see *gulp* Strohman...or *eek* Leiter-fluid.

FB in the zone low/away fouled. BEST SLIDER OF THE GAME. Got on top of that one, dives to the low inside corner, fooled him. Swings over it for the K, inning over. Top 4, 3-2 Yanks. 29 pitches in the 3rd for Gil, and 70 through three. I might let him pitch to Gimenez and Hedges, but if either one gets on, he's out for Rocchio.
Top 4, 3-2 Yanks. Chisholm, Stanton and Rizzo for the Yanks vs. Sabrowski, I guess.

They would use Stroman before they go to a three man. Stroman did have some good starts this year so it's not impossible he could have a good one. Nestor might be back but prob not 100%. Maybe just Chisholm, who Sabrowski K'd in game 1. Stanton hit a HR off him, the first run he allowed in the majors.

Let’s score some runs to give Gil breathing room. He needs it and so do we.
