Just UGH.
Now we'll see what they're made of. Pissing away a game like that can either wreck you, or cause you to dig deeper. One thing's for sure, if Judge can't shake these October demons, we aren't going much further. He has to stop overthinking and just hit the damn ball.

I just hope it's not a repeat of 1976.

Yanks got everything they wanted in this game, except for Judge finally coming through and the two misplays that each cost a run. Cole made an excellent start. The key guys in the pen: Holmes, Kahnle and Weaver essentially did their jobs. Stanton hit a big HR. Jazz woke up and contributed. They kept Betts and Ohtani from wrecking the game. They kept the auxiliary threats in check most of the night. And they still lost.
Terrible, disheartening loss when they could've taken the lead in the series.

Nestor over Hill is an epic blunder.

I bring in the funky delivery of Hill ten times out of ten. Hill was one of the pitchers who got us through the ALDS and ALCS to the World Series. Questionable place to bring in Nestor who hasn't pitched in ages and thrives on command. Unlike Lemon-Lime Gatorade for the Dodgers, Nestor cannot overpower anyone in the zone.

I just hope it's not a repeat of 1976. A better comparison probably is the az series when we struggled but managed to stay close I think. Historically relief piching was our strong suit. I guess no longer if you have to go to a guy who has not pitched in a month. You have no one else. So close.

Now tomorrow the Dodgers put THEIR ace on the mound.

Something this team has struggled with too damn much. That and another Boone blunder. Not sure where he saw the benefit in putting a guy who's been out a month in over Hill, who has been mostly effective since they signed him.

no but unless judge can wake up the odds are against us. Relievers used to be our strong suit now they are not. Starters need to go deeper How much deeper, a complete game? that would help through 7 at least

obviously a second guess but bringing in nestor was a disaster. a terrible pitch right in a LH happy zone. but too many poor fielding plays contributed. besides nestor the bullpen certainly wasn't crisp.

Yeah, it's crazy how many hittable pitches he's fouled off or taken for strikes and then later in the at bat he ends up chasing.

But this is not one of the dominant Yankee teams of the past. which is why this loss hurts.

You have to make the routine plays or they'll cost you in games like this. Exactly. Obv bad pitch by Nestor, but you aren't even in that situation if a couple plays earlier are made.

It's not often you see a hitter intentionally walked to get to the AL MVP.
