Bad pitch from Cousins, throw off-line to second by Judge, Volpe fails to corral Judge's throw, Rizzo wasn't backing up, ball rolls all the way to Wells. Yes, I would say that's sloppy play.

Sinker on the corner away, bounced over the mound, but Volpe is shading that way, fields on the right side of 2nd, throws him out. Inning over.
Cousins gets out of it. I'm suprised, but also pleased.
Top 5, 4-1 Dodgers. Cousins needed 13 pitches to get the last two outs of the 4th. Bottom of the Yankees' order in the 5th: Volpe, Wells and Verdugo.

Rodon comes up small, but the deficit is only 3 runs. More than doable! The Yanks have one hit after 4.

FB below middle, Volpe takes it for a strike. FB inside backs Volpe off a bit, 1-1 Curve starts at him, freezes him again, takes it in the zone, inner 3rd, 1-2 Takes a splitter low, 2-2 The thing is, he hasn't thrown hard since the first, and they're still not hitting him at all. Swings over a splitter down and in, K's, 1 down.

Wells takes a curve down and in, ball 1. FB below and outside middle, tops it to the right side, Freeman fields, flips to Yamamoto, 2 down.

Verdugo takes a curve on the backdoor, above the knees, 0-1 FB misses just high, inside corner at 94.7, 1-1 Curve waist high, outer 3rd, Verdugo again tries to go with, again flies out this time to fairly deep left, but never a threat to do any damage. Inning over.
Bottom 5, 4-1 Dodgers. Yanks go 1..2..3..again, this time on 10 pitches and 72 through 5 for Yamamoto. 2-3-4 for the Dodgers: Betts, T. Hernandez, Freeman.

Even worse, he's missing on pitches he was crushing earlier in the year. Both outs tonight on fastball near the middle of the zone.

I know this seems stupid but why no put Nestor in?? He only throw 2 pitches last night! Or doesn’t Boone trust him in this situation?

I like Yamamoto's repertoire.

Betts takes a slider outside middle, 0-1 Sinker taken high, inside middle, 1-1 Slider below and inside middle, but Betts misses, big swing makes Verdugo hesitate, but he comes in hard and makes a sliding catch, nice play, 1 down.

Our offense tonight is similar to paint drying…that needs to change…
