Would it be premature to start the off-season thread? SOTO WATCH 2024 doesn't begin until a pitcher tosses his glove in the air in jubilation.

Judge gets a BIG break. Sinker in the zone 100% up and away, called a ball. Bad call, 1-0 Jammed by a sinker inside, hits it back to Graterol, who fumbles, throws late and high to 2nd, but Edman keeps his foot on the bag for a force, 2 down.

Stanton takes a sinker inside, ball 1. Takes a sinker on the inside corner, 1-1 Same sinker, fouled off, 1-2 Slider well low/away, he lays off, 2-2 Sinker just outside lined hard up the middle, gets through for a hit, Judge to 2nd with 2 down, and Chisholm with a chance to make a fight out of things, but they'll bring Vesia for Chisholm.

Stanton single. Two on for Jazz.
Come on Chisholm! Do something positive here!

Chisholm is 0-1 with a K vs. Vesia in the regular season; this is the first time he's facing him in the World Series.

Chisholm...
Takes a slider bounced over the middle, 1-0 Slider bounced again, inside middle, 2-0 FB above middle, a cookie, but he misses it fouling it down. Can't miss that friggin' pitch, Jazz.

Come on Jazz. That was a pitch to slam. Not foul off your foot.

Slider bends just outside, hits it off the end of the bat, the semi-liner one hops to Lux, who goes to Edman for the easy force to end the inning. Would be nice if he tried to go to left with a pitch like that, instead of pulling it, but that's not him.
Top 7, 4-0 Dodgers. Vesia does his job. Hill coming in to face the top of the Dodgers' order in the 7th: Ohtani, Betts and Freeman.

Come on Jazz. That was a pitch to slam. Not foul off your foot. Even worse, it wasn't that fast, just 93.7. He should've killed that pitch.

The most embarrassing sweep against the Yankees in a World Series that I can remember was 1976, against the Big Red Machine. Unless the Yankees can come back tonight, or win tomorrow, this series might actually be worse.

Sinker backs up way inside, and Ohtani has to back off quick, 1-0 Sinker in the zone up and in, swung under it, 1-1 Overthrows the FB high, above the inner 3rd, 2-1 Sinker tails inside above the knees, fouled off, 2-2 Takes his timeout Sinker inside, tries to open up early, fouls it off. FB inside, he's late and under, pops foul off 3rd, Chisholm comes in and catches about 6 feet on the foul side, 1 down.

Betts takes a FB up and away, ball 1 Takes a FB thigh high, near middle, 1-1 Takes a sinker 8-10 inches outside, 2-1 Takes a sinker well outside and also low, 3-1 Gets a big break on a FB 3 inches outside, called a strike anyway, bad call, 3-2 FB up and in makes Betts duck out of the way for ball 4.

The game's only 4-0 because Ohtani isn't playing like Ohtani. Imagine that...a game without Ohtani, and they still can't win.
