Right, because he was going the wrong way, which is the point, he never attempted to go to first base, like he should have. That is because he assumed Rizzo being 10 feet away had the play. The easiest play was Rizzo's to make. |

Comes set, steps off, wheels and bluffs Chisholm back to 2nd.
Slider starts at him, freezes him, takes it on the corner. Volpe's been frozen by a number of breaking balls at him that turn and hit the inside corner.

Sinker to the inside corner above the knees, grounded to the right side, Lux fields and throws him out, inning over.

I'll chime in on the Cole/Rizzo thing. The second Rizzo saw Cole wasn't coming he should have lunged glove first toward the bag.

Curve outside, hit hard up the middle, but off the end of the bat, nearly takes Cole's head off, but Volpe fields behind 2nd, throws on the run, gets him, 1 down.
