Watching Joe's postgame comments. "I didn't want to break the pitcher's rhythm" Instead he got to face one of the best hitters in the league with the bases loaded.

Instead he got to face one of the best hitters in the league with the bases loaded. John Flaherty shut him down. He was like "You already break his rhythm when you check the replay for 30 seconds!" SMH Girardi broke Chapman's rhythm later in the game with a review challege and Francona sure as hell didn't mind breaking his pitcher's rhythm on the Toe at 2nd base review.

I really would respect Girardi more if he had just said "I screwed up". I was thinking about this and some blame must go to the Yankees replay coordinator Brett Weber as well. I don't know what he was smoking. You don't need a super slow mo replay to tell that the call was fishy. Just say "challenge". Of course, being the manager, Girardi takes ultimate responsibility but Weber shit the bed as well.

Just some more points:
1. As John Flaherty says in that video he didn't even try to challenge its not like he tried and the umpire was like NOPE THRITY SECONDS TOO LATE, he didn't even try ! 2. Obviously I am not one to praise other managers especially former Red Sox Managers, but you have to give it to Francona he plays to win. If he has to use his elite pitchers early in the game he does, using a starter in extra innings no problem, worry about the now and not the games that might not even exist (as the yankees you lose this game and you are only guaranteed one more, hell if the indians lost they are guaranteed two more and francona still managed like he was the one down 0-1).
Basically Girardi used this strategy in the Wild Card game. Severino was terrible and Girardi did pull him, Robertson was in the 4th inning etc etc, but the question is why not continue to use this strategy in this series as well? I think Baseball is going away from the defined roles thing. Look at this playoffs so far. We have had frontline starters go down one by one. Severino, Santana, Gray, Grienke, Sale, Gray, Pomeranz. All these starters that are either #1 or #2 in the rotation all didnt make it past 5 innings. Andrew Miller pitched 30 pitches last night and 15 tonight and was effective both times. Yet we have Robertson where we were making excuses for him that he threw 41 pitches 3 days ago. Does it make Robertson less effective sure, but if Andrew miller can throw 45 pitches in a 2 day span why are we making excuses for Robertson? Why is Girardi so adamant on this roles thing and worrying about scenarios that might never come to existence? When we see other managers including the one directly across from the dugout not doing these things.

I'd like to see someone else manage the team.

[rofl] Normally I would call this unprofessional and unwarranted but in this special circumstance, go for it Chapman! Or whoever is running Chapman's account!

Maddening. Girardi has two challenges in his pocket in the sixth inning and doesn't use them in a spot to end the inning, when from the seventh inning on umpires don't require manager challenges to review replays. Girardi deserves the best punter in the NFL to kick him in the nuts, over and over, until he drops his binder.
