Im no Sonny Gray apologist but 1.10 ERA and 19 KS over 16.1 innings past 3 starts.

He also just allowed 5 runs in one inning by throwing about 15 dough balls right over the plate. He has the mental toughness of a scared rabbit.

There's no way they can run this guy out there in a potential playoff match. If he can't beat the Orioles, who are more or less a Triple-A squad at this point he can't be trusted in high leverage games.

Im no Sonny Gray apologist but 1.10 ERA and 19 KS over 16.1 innings past 3 starts. He had been great lately and the detail around his pitch selection seemed to suggest there was a real difference in the strategy and not just random luck. So today is really disappointing. |

Well, the 5th starter (or 6th I guess now) wouldn't start a playoff game anyway. The question is really whether he has a role on the roster.
With the deal for Lynn, good chance Grey is moving to the Meat Tray role.

I'd trust some AAA pitcher from the farm to do what Sonny Gray has done. ERA approaching 6. And I don't care what his additional metrics might be. A 6 ERA means you're getting killed. |

I cant imagine a young prospect being any worse than Robinson. He isn't going to stick up here anyways when they get healthy.
