LOL. Even worse, but not nearly as well known... a guy I went to high school with is now a dead-ringer for David Crosby...

Probably also true of the less-known Bernie Brown that I went to school with. His dad died of a heart-attack owning and running that trashy-ass trailer park that Bernie inherited at a much younger age than Bernie is now... *Name may be changed to protect my crusty ass in the event that Bernie reads this. Then again, maybe not. I live 1700 miles away. What’s he going to do? Unfriend me on Facebook?...

Mahomes has had a personal trainer since fourth grade? Tgat amazed me as well. I always used to poo-poo the “little league parent” mentality. I recall one parent that shouted out from the stands to a manager that he was ruining his then nine year old’s “baseball career” by over using him as a pitcher. I also knew a young man who’s parents built a baseball field in their yard for him to play baseball on who’s mother said, “Of course we built him a baseball field. That’s why we had him, to play baseball”. Now, the first boy never did go on to play professional ball, and I suppose we’ll never know if his little-league manager ruined his career. The second boy was mildly talented, but less so than even I was, and far less athletic in movement. But they gave him a really bad attitude for a while. Later, he became a police officer. He probably did that pretty well. They were good people, and the kid seemed to mature pretty well. But he just didn’t have real talent. Now, we read of kids with trainers in fourth grade. Of Tiger Woods who have access to country clubs. I’ve read other stories that suggest that the days of kids emerging from coal mines, picking plantations, and ghettos may be over. Parents sign their children up for very competive leagues and travel hundreds if not thousands of miles to take them to tournaments. There is now some money required, often big money, to raise a pro sports star. To get them the training and exposure. It’s got much to do with poor kids from second and third world countries getting so much attention from MLB...

Mahomes has had a personal trainer since fourth grade? Not sure how literal that is, but the same guy he works with, who runs a sophisticated training center for athletes, worked with his dad. So he met him when he was a kid and worked out with him since then. Might explain why he threw a mid 90s fastball in high school.

That's crazy... a kid on my little league team, his parents built him a batting cage in their backyard and he became a po-po. Imagine in your story it was the kids father... because he was also a cop...

His mom was creepy. I was like 12 years old and she'd always tell me I had a "bionic arm" and would ask to rub my arms and shit.. And she wasn't good looking... Later in life I would bust his balls about it.. say his mom wanted me... His sister though, woooo... I wish she was the one that wanted me lol

Glad pro football is over, I long ago lost interest in it once they decided to go with enforced sameness.

That makes it hard to enjoy it as entertainment... Interesting perspective. I would say this was one of the most entertaining NFL seasons of my life, and that’s even with my own team putting up a mediocre result. There’s a lot of good reason not to follow the NFL or any organized football, and NFL management is not a group with a lot to like. However, sameness is the last thing I would say to describe the NFL this season. But I guess if you stopped watching, by definition you wouldn’t know that right?
