Well this sucks. I went out to mow, and the back gate is a makeshift piece of crap that was put on by the previous owner...so I pinch the end of my finger in the gate, and it hurts like hell.
My first reaction is “as soon as I finish mowing, I better get some ice on it”. Then, I look at it, and I shut the mower off. So now I’m sitting here with ice on my elevated finger, which is very purple. I also have three ibuprofen in my gut and am torturing myself watching this game again.
Needless to say, a comeback win would be nice. As I say that, Romine drives in a couple. Somehow my finger feels much better at 12-7 than 12-5. An illogical comeback win for us may cure the danged thing. An Oriole comeback may be too much for this old heart...

Looking up 8’ metal gates. This wooden piece of crap is going to burn...
The guy that lived here was certainly not a carpenter. Even I know to build a gate with 45 degree angle corners. He just put straight up and down and sideways timbers, so the thing leans and sways in every corner. It’s caught be a little bit before, so i’m usually careful. It was getting dark and I was hurrying like a jackass...
Inger “The Finger” is in pain. Inger doesn’t like pain. Luckily it just got flesh and no bone..

Hope you're okay inger! Treat that finger, inger! It’s far from a major injury, lol. It was one of those things that happens that just pissed me off more than anything. I KNEW I neede to replace that gate before this happened, but my tight ass wouldn’t part with the money. Starting my own business has been a blast, but predictably I was experiencing a bit of a cash flow issue for a coupe of months. Just when it started looking scary, I got several checks. We’re not rolling in dough, but this month has been very encouraging. So...maybe I’ll loosen the purse strings enough to buy a gate...(: I was actually mad because I was stuck watching the rest of the ball game instead of mowing more than anything else. The finger looks much better than I expected. Then again, I usually keep working and seek treatment later. I remember spraining my ankle at work once and I kept working anyway for about four hours, dragging my foot around, until my ex showed up to bring me lunch. She wanted to see my ankle, so I took my shoe off and couldn’t get it back on because of the swelling do I went to the hospital. Hey, I was the manager, so...you know.. Maybe when we get older we finally learn not to be a tough guy and almost get wimpy enough to take care of ourselves... Come to think of it, I played baseball in spite of barely being able to walk a few times...I’d still run when I needed to...after limping out to CF...Guys would say, if you’re hurt how can you run like that. I honestly didn’t know. I guess the sight of the ball coming my way just gave me adrenaline. I truly believe that happened even when I was well. I was catching anything possible, no matter what... |

They say if you can handle the first 2 years of a small business, you have a good shot at succeeding provided you aren’t an addict of some sort. I’ve always wanted a business of my own. It’s a scary proposition. You have to have courage, determination and a bunch of other shit I’m not sure I possess.😯
