They say if you can handle the first 2 years of a small business, you have a good shot at succeeding provided you aren’t an addict of some sort. I’ve always wanted a business of my own. It’s a scary proposition. You have to have courage, determination and a bunch of other shit I’m not sure I possess.😯 I think we've all recognized over the years that Inger has courage, determination and a bunch of other shit.

This has been a great experience to test myself. At times when you're employed you feel so wimpy because most employers thrive off of generating fear among their employees. Fear of loss. Loss of job. Loss of benefits. If that happened what would I do. Those are truly things to be worried about. Until you don't have to be worried about them anymore... BTW, my little boo boo finger is all better. It's amazing. I will advise everyone that if you get a minor injury, do all you can right away. I though this thing would be swollen, purple and painful for weeks when it happened. As it is, I have the slightest little bit of purple, no swelling and only the slightest bit of numbness. I'm typing full speed and fully capable of every function that finger normally performs. Ice, elevation, ibuprofen. Plus I've been taking Tumeric for about the past month. I like what it has done for me in preventing inflammation in general, especially in my right shoulder. I seem to have some bursitis in there... In all fairness I must admit that since it's the finger next to my pinkie on my right hand, it's not used for anything real important like nose-picking, but it's still important to have all fingers running on all cylinders...My new motto is "Take good care of your fingers, and they will take good care of you"... I never wanted to live in a foreign land. It's a scary proposition. You have to have a different kind of courage, determination and a bunch of other shit. I know I have the shit. I just don't know if I have the other qualities... Don't sell yourself short one moment chuck. You are after all "The Blade"...

First of all... it's not the first time I've heard someone say "take good care of your fingers and they'll take good care of you." I thought when I was told that, it would be the only time I would hear (or in this case see) it. Although this guy was talking about my refusal to wear gloves in freezing weather not slamming my fingers between two pieces of wood.. which I have been accustomed to after spending about 7 years of my life working in lumber yards...

LOL... I didn't know if that was a common proverb or something It probably is oft used in trades like lumber and especially steel. I’ve know several guys in both that on had a scarce finger or three. I also recently met with a couple that works in pyrotechnics and I noticed that she was missin a thumb and one and a half of her fingers in the right hand...

I have started a number of businesses even in Mexico.
Here is just one of thousands of examples I good show you: 08-11-18: www.cnbc.com/2018/08/10/how-bill-smith-built-shipt-and-sold-it-to-target-for-550-million.html
Chuck: You want to get Really Scare; I mean Really, Really Scare = Wake up one morning and look at your Wife and REALIZE that you not only no longer love her, but hate living with her or even being around her/or listening to her voice.
Now that is Scary. What is Really Scary; is that she will never give YOU a divorce!!!
Try starting you own business (which you can do just about any place in the World) and go for the most exciting ride of your lifetime (you only live once).

It will also teach you so many things about personal motivation and drive. You learn ways to keep yourself “up” on the down days, and not get too full of yourself on the good days.
It’s very fulfilling once you get a small taste of success, and i’ve Simply had a mere nibble at this point. You definitely learn what is meant by the old saying “time is money”.
As a 64-years young man (it is important to think young), I found myself to be pretty much un-employable. I also wanted out of what I was doing and couldn’t imagine where to go to start over.
I happened to speak to an entrepreneur who was starting his own business that I could use as a platform to work with him. Knowing he was near my age, and knowing he had made millions of dollars in business, yet still was very personable it was obvious to me that I had found the right mentor.
He and I do the same thing everyday, out knocking on doors and meeting new people that want our product. Some months he sells more than I do, and some months I sell more than him. One month another person that was working with us outsold us both.
He gets a percentage of my commissions because he is providing a web site (which sucks right now, improving very soon) and pays someone to write our proposals so we don’t have to spend time at a desk.
We are contracted with a reputable solar sales and installation company, so we don’t have to carry inventory nor have any employees. And no. I am not his employee. I take no orders I get no pay or paid benefits. I’m 100% commissioned and only make $$$ when I sell.
The very best part is that I have never liked to sell for my former employers. That is mostly because I never felt as though they knew anything about selling nor motivation of a salesman.
The rest of this ride through life will be taken as far as I can in direct sales. I am the world’s worst salesman when you play “by the rules”.When I can be left to be myself, it seems to work well enough to appeal to enough people that I won’t starve to death.
There are so many business models out there that would require me to rent a building, hire staff, carry inventory. That’s the appeal here. I work. I sell. I eat. I spend as much time as I feel like and never feel over worked for longer than a day or two at s time. I can work four days a week or seven. Morning, afternoon, evening or dark of night. My deadlines are mine, and the only one that can chew me out is...me. And sometimes I do...

inger, I always wanted to be my own boss.. I always thought the amount of work that I do compared to my fellow employees, I should be getting paid a lot more... and usually do.. but that's besides the point... I shouldn't be making another man rich by putting myself through hell... so what I'm trying to say is you're an inspiration.. for real
