America is expected to drop 21 places in the global rankings for life expectancy by the year 2040, according to a new study.

People across the world are living longer, but US life expectancy is not improving as fast as that of other countries.

By the year 2040, Americans are expected to live 79.8 years, a slight improvement over the 2016 average of 78.7 years.

Researchers estimate that the US will only have the 64th highest life expectancy globally, compared with its rank of 43rd in 2016. The study suggests that people in Spain will have the longest life expectancy by that time, at 85.5 years.

Everyone on the planet has the same risk of dying—100 per cent—but this study instead looked at “years of life lost,” based on risks that kill people prematurely. Most risks of premature deaths are projected to improve, but 36 are likely to worsen.

Improved technological and medical innovation, health spending, and assistance to developing countries is expected to help people around the world live longer. On the other side, noncommunicable diseases and HIV may worsen.

The authors fear that a loss in momentum in the fight against HIV could result the disease rebounding.

A good long-term health forecast considers the past trajectory of a country, how independent causes of death are changing, and medical trends. However, no forecast is perfect, and innumerable things could change the outcome.

New diseases and health issues could emerge and spread, while others could be cured or curbed between now and 2040.

Researchers at The University of Washington in Seattle conducted and published the study with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Americans continue to gain weight.

In seven U.S. states, more than 35% of residents are obese, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Obesity rates exceed 30% in 29 states, and 25% in 48 states. The trend appears to be worsening.

The State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America is an annual report by the non-profit, non-partisan Trust for America's Health that highlights the latest obesity trends as well as strategies, policies, programs and practices that can reverse the epidemic.

The report looks at obesity rates geographically, as well as among different ethnicities, ages and socioeconomic classes. Low-income communities, rural areas and communities of color are disproportionately affected by obesity.

The costs to society are staggering. Obesity increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, sleep apnea, liver disease, kidney disease, gallbladder disease, and certain types of cancer.

Obesity adds $149 billion in medical expenses per year and $66 billion in lower productivity annually, the report says. One in three young adults are ineligible to serve in the military due to their weight.

Some of the issues examined in the report include nutrition and fitness standards in schools, policies at the local level that encourage walking and biking, increasing healthy food access in underserved communities, and menu labeling.

These are the states with the highest obesity rates in America.

1. West Virginia
Adult obesity rate: 38.1%
West Virginia has the highest rate of adult obesity in the country. The state requires 90-149 minutes a week of physical education for elementary school students, but no minimum for middle or high school students, although PE credits are required for high school graduation, according to the State of Obesity report.

2. Mississippi
Adult obesity rate: 37.3%
In Mississippi, 14.5% of low income children aged 2-4 are obese. Of children aged 10-17, 26.2% are obese, according to the report.

3. Oklahoma
Adult obesity rate: 36.5%
In 2017, Oklahoma, along with Iowa, had adult obesity rates above 35% for the first time ever.

4. Iowa
Adult obesity rate: 36.4%
2017 was the first year Iowa's obesity rates rose above 35%.

5. Alabama
Adult obesity rate: 36.3%
Obesity rates vary on the local level. Nearly 800 of the nation's 3,000 counties reported adult obesity rates at or above 35%, and Macon County, Alabama, tops the list with a high of 48%.

6. Louisiana
Adult obesity rate: 36.2%
Louisiana has the third highest level of high school obesity, at 17%.

7. Arkansas
Adult obesity rate: 35%
Arkansas has the highest level of high school obesity at 21.7%.

8. Kentucky
Adult obesity rate: 34.3%
Kentucky has the second highest level of obesity among high school students at 20.2%.

9. Alaska
Adult obesity rate: 34.
Alaska has no requirement for PE in elementary, middle or high school, and does not require PE credits to graduate high school.

10. South Carolina
Adult obesity rate: 34.1%
South Carolina is one of a handful of states in which the obesity rate significantly increased between 2016 and 2017.

11. Ohio
Adult obesity rate: 33.8%
Ohio is another state with a statistically significant increase in obesity between 2016 and 2017.

12. Indiana
Adult obesity rate: 33.6%
Several CDC grant programs, such as the Early Childcare and Education Learning Collaborative, provide training and technical assistance to states to help them with obesity prevention. This program has reached 15 states, including Indiana.

13. North Dakota
Adult obesity rate: 33.2%
A CDC grant has helped 25 childcare centers in North Dakota to improve nutrition and increase physical activity, according to the report.

14. Texas
Adult obesity rate: 33.0%
Texas has the second highest rate of obesity for 10- to 17-year-olds at 21.3% (following Mississippi at 26.2%.)

15. Nebraska
Adult obesity rate: 32.8%

16. Tennessee

If the mythical fountain of youth were real, it might be brimming with this cocktail. Scientists in Singapore have concocted a brew of drugs that are known to have various advantageous effects on extending an animal's lifespan, and appear to have stumbled upon a magical combination capable of doubling the lifespan of some species.

It hasn't been tested on humans yet, but so far the effects have been duplicated on creatures as varied as nematode worms and fruit flies, and researchers are optimistic that it will work on people too, according to a press release about the study.

“Many countries in the world, including Singapore, are facing problems related to aging populations,” said Dr. Jan Gruber from Yale-NUS College, who led the research team.

“If we can find a way to extend healthy lifespan and delay aging in people, we can counteract the detrimental effects of an aging population, providing countries not only medical and economic benefits, but also a better quality of life for their people."

And also, who wouldn't want to live for twice as long with stable health?

Not just quantity of years, but quality

The drug cocktail not only lengthened the life of animal subjects, but it also extended the quality of life. In other words, it boosted the animals' period of time in life enjoying optimal health. So it's not just about longevity.

"We would benefit not only from having longer lives, but also spend more of those years free from age-related diseases like arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, or Alzheimer's disease," said Gruber.

Some of the drugs used in the cocktail include rapamycin, rifampicin, psora–4, metformin, and allantoin. These are all drugs known to have an impact on lifespan in isolation, but the real breakthrough here is the discovery that combining them can boost lifespan even more. By far, this is the largest lifespan extension ever found for any drug.

The treatment was mostly studied in the worm Caenorhabditis elegans, a microscopic critter with a typically short lifespan. That might sound like a far cry from a human subject, but it's a necessary first step before trials can begin on more complex animals.

Obviously, human trials are the end game here. First though, more animal research will be needed as researchers work to perfect the formula. Computer models that test different drug mixes are on the docket as well, which can help to eliminate any potentially harmful drug interactions.

Statistically, I’m obese. I’m 5’11” and weigh 197. The ideal weight for a man my height is listed as between 155 and 189 pounds, which is a huge range for “ideal” weight.

Most people are surprised when they find out that I’m near 200 pounds. I don’t have a perfectly flat belly, but it’s far from a pot gut. I believe that a portion of the extra weight is from muscle built into my back and legs from the many years during which I lifted and carried my handicapped son. I’ve reduced my weight from many years of being between 210-235, and am glad I did. I’d like to hit that top ideal number of 189 at some point so I can reduce the ranks of the obese.

I think it’s much more important to track the “morbid” obesity, which starts at a body mass index of 4.0. At my 71” height, that would be 284. My BMI is 2.77. when I briefly hit 233 pounds (3.28 BMI) while I was severely depressed (in Kentucky, no less), I was a bit concerned, and part of my “recovery” was to intentionally work on losing twenty pounds, which I did...

I’m not concerned at this point, statistics be damned. Perhaps focus should be shifted to a more realistic weight for what is referred to as obesity...And to remember that while it’s much more difficult to track, issues like bone density and muscle mass are important contributors to weight...

I read somewhere that the average weight of US women was 165 pounds and that was the same average weight of US men in 1970. Whenever I come back from Asia I’m shocked at how big US women are. I’m 6’3” and weigh between 198-204, but I’d like to be around 188-192. Not going to happen. I like beer.

I recently heard from a two couples traveling through-out America = One from Europe; the other couple from a Northern California Community where everyone is Lean to the point of ALMOST being too Thin.

They both told me they were shocked by the WEIGHT & OBESITY they saw...especially the American Women.

This American Obesity Epidemic comes with a HUGE $$$ COST of Billions of $$$---Healthcare problems; loss of Productivity in the Workplace; etc. etc. etc.(see above articles from previous post as to cost).

This Epidemic also DRIVES DOWN the average age of length of living = Due to multiple health issues.

Both couples agreed, they understand now, why so many Spouses cheat in their Relationship/Marriages, etc.

Now mind you, I AM OBESE TOO. But, at least I am trying, by eating better/healthier food & trying to exercise more.

It is NOT EASY, by any means = It is instead an ongoing DAILY BATTLE. But, at least I am trying...

It begins at an early age where PARENTS, must teach their children how to eat Healthy Food, by serving only such.

I will never forget when Michelle Obama put into place 'Healthier Food' at Schools. The Feedback, was swift and awful. Parents, basically said "No one will tell my children (Fat and/or Obese) what to eat..."

What is coming in the future (not long off) will be when Airlines charging more for Fat/Obese Passengers over a certain weight; because weight = More Fuel = More expenses.

Cannot wait for this to happen...

Even the FBI has stated such, a number of times…

I stated numerous times: That in Their Dark Age Minds = “It is THEIR WAY or NO WAY”.

I used to send out a Monthly Hate Newsletter (with all the recent Hate Events/Crimes, etc.).

Than as of 2016, I needed to send out this Hate Email at least twice a month because of the arrival of Donald.

Now I NEED to send this Hate Email at least weekly; sometime DAILY because of the rapid increase in Hate Events/Crimes.

I literally cannot keep up with ALL the Hate Events/Crimes happening around America.

I have never seen such an influx of Hate Crimes/Events…NEVER EVER (not even in the early, 1960’S).

Just look at ALL the recent Drastic Increases in Hate Events/Crimes...and, sadly it will only get worse, MUCH WORSE.

Within the last SEVEN DAYS or so, there have been numerous Hate Events/Crimes across America; with the most disgusting, vile & evil ones:

1. The attack by a White Male (an Extreme Racist Hater) on the Jewish Synagogue.
2. The Pipe-Bombs (at least twelve) sent by ANOTHER White Male (an Extreme Racist/Political Hater).
3. Another White Male with guns tried to get inside a Black Church to kill BLACKS but was unable to; so he went to a local supermarket and shot innocent BLACKS.

--AND, of course, the Right Wing Media (More Haters), are Blaming the Democrats & the Media...saying they are behind the 12 Pipe-Bombs (see articles below).

PITTSBURGH (Reuters) - A gunman yelling, “All Jews must die,” stormed a Pittsburgh synagogue during Saturday services, killing at least eight worshippers and wounding six others, including four police officers, before he was arrested.

"It's a very horrific crime scene, one of the worst that I've seen," Pittsburgh public safety director Wendell Hissrich told a news conference near the scene.

"This falls under hate crime," he said, adding there was no active threat to the community and that the shooter had been taken to a hospital.

KDKA television cited police sources as saying the gunman walked into the building and yelled “All Jews must die.”

A federal law enforcement official told Reuters that at least 8 people were killed.

Three police officers were shot and one was injured by shrapnel, Alleghany County spokeswoman Amie Downs said in an email. Two of the six people injured were in critical condition, Downs said, but would not immediately say if the count of six injured people included the suspect.

Authorities and elected officials were expected to provide more details at a 4 p.m. (2000 GMT) news conference. The Federal Bureau of Investigation will lead the probe into the attack.

Two sources identified the suspect as a 46-year-old Pittsburgh man, Robert Bowers.

A social media post by Bowers said a Jewish refugee organization, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, "likes to bring invaders in that kill our people. I can’t sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics, I’m going in.”

The comment was posted on Gab, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
-based social networking service created as an alternative to Twitter. In a statement, Gab.com confirmed the profile belonged to Bowers.

"Gab took swift and proactive action to contact law enforcement immediately," it said. "We first backed up all user data from the account and then proceeded to suspend the account. We then contacted the FBI and made them aware of this account and the user data in our possession."

The shooting, for which one federal law enforcement official said Bowers used an AR-15 assault-style rifle, prompted security alerts at houses of worship around the country.

It follows a spate of pipe bombs found mailed in recent days to prominent political figures, mostly Democrats including former President Barack Obama.

The Tree of Life synagogue in the city's Squirrel Hill neighborhood, a heavily Jewish area, was holding a Shabbat religious service at the time of the shooting.

Social media platform Gab lashed out Saturday after being called out for a raft of anti-Semitic messages that were posted by the alleged suspect behind a deadly shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Gab has long been criticized for allowing hate speech to fester on its site as white nationalists have increasingly been banned from other social media platforms.

“Unlike Twitter, we take action against terrorists,” the official Gab Twitter account tweeted in response to a question from a Buzzed News reporter about the social media platform’s response to the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting suspect being named as Robert Bowers.

The post continued: “Secondly, we are working with the FBI directly and they have our full cooperation to see to it that justice is served. Now tell us what you think about the anti-white hate tweeted by Buzzfeed employees constantly.”

The account then went on to tweet posts from Buzzed News reports it claimed represented “anti-white hate.”

Previously the Gab account tweeted that “Words are not bullets,” adding “social media posts have a body count of zero.”

“The sole responsibility for today's horrific actions lies with one person,” the message continued. “We will do everything in our power to work with law enforcement to see that justice is served.”

In response to that, Buzzfeed News reporter Ryan Mac questioned why, then, did Gab remove the reported shooting suspect’s posts and account.

The shooter reportedly made anti-Semitic comments during the shooting Saturday morning. Multiple casualties have been reported, while six people, including four police officers, were injured.

The shooting took place during a baby naming ceremony at the synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, authorities told the Associated Press.

The reported suspect was in his 40s and had posted a string of hateful messages targeting Jews as well as refugees.

In a post in Gab prior to the shooting, Bowers ranted against a Jewish refugee organization, suggesting it was bringing in refugees that would kill Americans.

A 56-year-old Florida man named Cesar Sayoc has reportedly been arrested in south Florida in connection with the string of bombs sent to prominent Democrats. Donald Trump spoke briefly about the case Friday at an ongoing White House event for black conservatives, and the atmosphere is apparently a lively one

Authorities in Florida, meanwhile, took custody Friday morning of a white van seen near the site of Sayoc’s apparent arrest. (TMZ says the van is “believed to belong to the suspect.”)

When the van—whose windows were almost totally covered with bumper stickers, many of which expressed pro-Trump and right-wing messages—was shown on TV news, some local residents (including documentary filmmaker Billy Corben) noted that they’d apparently seen it (and taken pictures of it) before.

Some of the stickers that can be seen in the older photos match the stickers that could be seen in news footage Friday, and one of the stickers in the older photos, coincidentally, says “CNN Sucks.”

So, a crowd at the White House was chanting “CNN Sucks” as someone who appears to be the proud owner of a “CNN Sucks” sticker was getting arrested for allegedly sending a bomb to CNN.

And, as a bonus, Trump appears to have subsequently encouraged the crowd in chants that suggested George Soros—the liberal donor who was also a target of one of the bombs—should be imprisoned…

Pro-Trump Pundits Claim Without Evidence That Mailed Explosives Are ‘False Flag’

Instead of condemning the explosive devices sent to former presidents and journalists, some pro-Trump pundits suggest Democrats planted them.

Fox News, the propaganda mouthpiece for President Donald Trump, had few qualms about suggesting this may have been a Democratic operation.

Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker told Fox News that the mailed makeshift bombs could have been the work of someone “trying to get the Democratic vote out,” Mediaite reported.

“And as you correctly pointed out earlier, this doesn’t necessarily mean someone is espousing some sort of conservative ideology and targeting Democrats,” Swecker told Fox News co-host Melissa Francis.

“It could be someone who is trying to get the Democratic vote out and incur sympathy.”

“That’s an interesting point,” Francis responded.

Online, right-wing conspiracy theorists frothed at the mouth at the idea that the mail bombs could be a “false flag” staged for political purposes.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh suggested that it must have been a Democrat who sent the bombs because, he baselessly argued, “Republicans just don’t do this sort of thing.”

He added: “Even though every event, like mass shootings, remember, every mass shooting there is, the Democrats in the media try to make everybody think right off the bat that some tea partier did it, or some talk radio fan did it, or some Fox News viewer did it. Turns out, it’s never, ever the case.”

Michael Flynn Jr., the son of former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, tweeted that the mailings were “a total false flag operation.”

He later deleted the tweets and admitted he didn’t actually know if that was the case, but not before The Daily Beast picked them up.

Oct. 26--The white man accused of gunning down two African-Americans at a grocery store in Kentucky was recorded on surveillance video attempting to enter a predominantly black church minutes before the deadly grocery store shooting.

While I agree that it is wrong, and not even rational, to "blame" Donald Trump and/or the republican party, for rightwing extremist violence and/or individual acts of madness, it is right, and completely rational, to question the influence that a President's words and actions have on public consciousness. After all, if the expectation is that a President's words don't have any influence, why does anyone ever bother to listen--or even care?

Oh, Trump is certainly not a fellow that I completely agree with. I do think “plain talk” is acceptable, but I also think he goes down the rabbit hole pretty frequently too. I’m strictly a political middle of the roader, who is a registered independent.

Most likely Trump has started a trend in which future Presidents will be using Social Media. It’s a modern world, and modern ways are coming. It used to be that the only time we saw or heard much of our POTUS was when he had a prepared speech him front of him that was vetted by a carefully read team. That was wise, but the new world wants answers right away. Unfortunately Donald suffers from oral diarrhea and spouts off without thinking. Even more unfortunately he doesn’t regret his lack of a filter.

I got to experience some of the way that “segment” works during my stay in KY. It’s also connected to of course, the old time fire and brimstone Baptist preaching in the area. One of my then co-workers came in to work on a Monday morning and told me that his minister had told the congregation that Democrats can’t get into heaven. I asked him why not, and he told me that since they’re pro-abortion, they’re all murderers. Certainly an interesting take that works well on a poorly educated populace that values what their minister tells them...

Lies come in many forms. In that particular case, the minister of that church may believe what he’s saying, but it doesn’t make it true. Some of these idiot Republicans may be dumb enough to believe that Democrats planted bombs. Then, they spread that as “truth” in many ways. Churches, schools, men’s clubs, social gatherings. Oh, and of course at this point no one has proven them wrong...And maybe never will...

Any time that people are too fervent about any belief, it can be made dangerous...

--We advise all Mexican Citizens that are considering traveling to America to avoid it all at all costs.

Why, because of the Immense Increasing Daily Racial Hate Events/Crimes/Killings; plus, the Dangerous & very Deadly Environment that currently exists in America’s Gun Culture today.

--"America has more guns than people & there were more Mass Shootings in 2017 than days in the year. There have been mass shooting sprees/deaths in/at:

Whatever you do, never ever run from America police. Hundreds, if not thousands of people of color folks over the recent decades have been shot and many killed even though they were unarmed...yes, shot just for running away.

They're even in uniform. But they’re not real cops.

Across Michigan, police departments have enlisted civilians to work alongside licensed officers to patrol communities and even assist real cops with arrests. But unlike the regular officers licensed by the state, these armed civilians are unregulated.

A Detroit Free Press investigation found there are no state-established training requirements for reserve officers, as they are commonly known; no standards for screening their qualifications, and no process for monitoring their conduct.

The state agency responsible for police licensing and training is not regulating reserve officers — despite gaining authority last year to do just that — and has no idea how many such unlicensed volunteers there are statewide.

This lack of oversight continues despite numerous incidents of questionable — even illegal — conduct by reserve officers in recent years.

The Free Press found a convicted felon who could not legally carry a gun actually patrolled as an armed reserve police officer in Highland Park, the former leader of a hate group volunteered as a reserve with western Michigan police agencies, and a Flint reserve officer was convicted after running a vigilante force that once illegally detained teens, holding them at gunpoint.

The Free Press investigation also found:
There are about 3,000 unlicensed civilians supplementing the ranks of law enforcement agencies across Michigan, based on information compiled by the newspaper through Freedom of Information Act requests filed last year.

Most are considered reserves or auxiliary officers, but the newspaper also identified other unlicensed civilians, such as members of sheriff’s posses and mounted and marine units.It is believed to be the first such accounting of this group of officers.

Michigan has fallen behind other states that have already implemented standards for reserve officers. The responsibility to set training requirements in Michigan falls to MCOLES, the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards — but the agency has no immediate plans to take on such a task, despite gaining the authority to do so nearly two years ago.

Responsibilities of these civilians, who are mostly unpaid volunteers,vary widely — from serving as the partners of licensed cops on patrol to riding horses in parades in units that are, generally, ceremonial.

Many reserve officers serve the public well, helping out with things like traffic control, crowd security and even on patrol with licensed officers.

And despite the lack of statewide requirements, it is common for police departments in Michigan to require reserve officers go through some kind of training, but typically it is not up to the level of a licensed officer.

Critics say not having state oversight and rules that govern training is problematic and puts reserve officers and citizens at risk.

“You have a person carrying a gun who can take someone’s life in the right circumstances, someone who has a badge and authority, who can take away their personal freedoms against the Constitution,” said David Harvey, former executive director of MCOLES, who successfully lobbied the Legislature before his retirement to grant MCOLES the authority to set standards for reserves.
