FIRST, ALLOW ME TO ADDRESS INGER’S QUESTION = “My message simply asked you what happened in Mexico in the event of a poor outcome. You haven’t replied to that. The implication I was making is a simple one, that medical malpractice suits are a factor that is running medical costs up in the USA.
Do those lawsuits exist in Mexico? It’s a point of comparison and curiosity, that’s all. Apples to apples and so on...”
ANSWER: Yes, you can SUE a Doctor for Medical Malpractice here in Mexico. However, Mexicans by far, are not as Lawsuit Happy, like most Americans.
And yes, Doctors here carry Malpractice Insurance; which is by far not as expensive as it is in America.
ALSO: Doctors worry here (like In America), about Malpractice lawsuits and losing their Medical Licenses, etc.
Recently, when my Doctor was over, I said to him, “I noticed that Jane was at your office the other day, what was her problem…?”
The Doctor replied, “I cannot talk about my patients, for if I did, I could be sued and even lose my License to practice.”

--NOW, before I begin with this Post; let me ONCE AGAIN state that Mexico’s National Health Plan (that I love), is not perfect, but is improving ever year = A National Health Plan in any country is NOT a 100-yard dash but instead, a Marathon.
And yes, just like Any other Country, Mexico could use MORE Doctors, Hospitals, Nurses, etc.
Fact is, America CURRENTLY has a shortage of Doctors, Nurses and yes even Hospitals/Medical Clinics, etc. And every year it only gets worse…
Because of all the Crap & Lies that Americans have been FED; millions of Americans have the WRONG Perception about National Health Plans.
These lies, have been Fed to Americans by the GOP & Lobbyists who have their own agendas.
--America’s Life Expectancy has been dropping every year for the past few years, at least since 2015…
Currently it is around 78-years old (but dropping). There are many reasons for this continuing drop; BUT, one of the MAJOR reasons is Healthcare & the expenses associated with such.
You ALL have millions without even a health plan and others with huge deductibles… and you have Communities without a Hospital or even a Medical Clinic.
This means so many cannot afford to get yearly basic check-ups; which would detect early problems that are still treatable, if detected early.
Without an affordable health plan and/or no health plan = by the time many of their medical problems are detected, it could be too late for treatment to save their lives.
Other Americans are rationing their Meds, because of costs and/or lack of having a health plan, etc..
So, instead of taking a full dosage of their daily meds; they only take a half or even only a third of the dosage = more medical problems = more unnecessary early deaths.
When Paul Ryan announced the GOP Health Plan that had just passed the House, he was asked by a reporter, (as Paul walked away from the podium), “What about the MILLIONS of Americans that will lose their coverage?”
Paul, smiled from ear-to-ear and said, “But we will save BILLIONS of $$$...” and walked off. Typical GOP Crap…

--SEE THIS ARTICLE ABOUT LIFE EXPECTANCY:
www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2017/02/21/us-life-expectancy-will-soon-be-on-par-with-mexicos-and-croatias/?noredirect=on
Since this research was published; it has only got worse in America…
February 21, 2017
Life expectancy at birth will continue to climb substantially for residents of industrialized nations —
But not in the United States, where minimal gains will soon put life spans on par with those in Mexico and the Czech Republic, according to an extensive analysis released Tuesday.
South Korean women and Hungarian men are projected to make the largest overall gains (with South Koreans second among males).
There is a better-than-even chance that South Korean women will live to an average of 90 years old by 2030, which would be the first time a population will break the 90-year barrier, according to the research published in The Lancet.
Not so in the United States.
“Notable among poor-performing countries is the USA,” the researchers wrote, “whose life expectancy at birth is already lower than most other high-income countries, and is projected to fall further behind, such that its 2030 life expectancy at birth might be similar to the Czech Republic for men, and Croatia and Mexico for women.”
Countries are listed by median projected increase in life expectancy, largest to smallest, from 2010 to 2030. The red dots show the median increase at the end of that period. (Source: The Lancet)
Americans will gain only a couple of years of life expectancy between 2010 and 2030, the study predicted, keeping life spans in the early 80s for women and late 70s for men.
The study projects a life expectancy of 83.3 for women in the United States and 79.5 for men in 2030, up from 81.2 for women and 76.5 for men in 2010.
The reasons for the United States' lag are well known. It has the highest infant and maternal mortality rates of any of the countries in the study, and the highest obesity rate.
It is the only one without universal health insurance coverage and has the “largest share of unmet health-care needs due to financial costs,” the researchers wrote.
Tellingly, the United States was the first high-income country to see a halt to the pattern of increasing height in adulthood, a reliable indicator of improving public health, according to Majid Ezzati, a professor of public health at Imperial College London, who led the research team.
Some Americans get a “bad start to life in nutrition and education” and suffer “high rates of homicide,” Ezzati said.
“And then lack of universal insurance. Some people probably get diagnosed too little and too late.
“If you have good insurance and you live on the East Coast and the West Coast, you probably get the best health care in the world,” he added.
“It’s not the technical quality of it, which is superb. It's the spread of it.” In many parts of the country, top health care simply isn't available.
In December, the U.S. government reported that life expectancy had declined in 2015 for the first time since 1993 as death rates for eight of the 10 leading causes of death, including heart disease, rose.
U.S. life expectancy dropped in 2015. Here's why.
In 2015, research by Princeton University economists Anne Case and Angus Deaton brought worldwide attention to the unexpected jump in mortality rates among white middle-aged Americans.
That trend, was blamed on what are sometimes called diseases of despair: overdoses, alcoholism and suicide.
Demographer Sam Preston, a sociologist at the University of Pennsylvania who has conducted numerous studies on this subject, cited the prescription opioid epidemic, homicides, obesity and the lingering effects of smoking — the latter now declining among many groups in the United States — as primary causes for the poor showing.
“It's very worrisome,” said Preston, who was not involved in the new research. “The U.S. is at the bottom of the barrel among [Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development] countries, and its relative position is worsening, not improving.”
The results released Tuesday echo some earlier analyses, including a report from the United Nations. Ezzati's group approached the task in a somewhat different way, running the numbers through 21 statistical models, combining the results and attaching probabilities to the conclusions.
Like other researchers, they found that women's advantage in life expectancy over men will continue to narrow, the result of more injuries, lung cancer and cardiovascular disease among women.
In most places, gains in life span will come more from postponing death among older people, rather than eliminating killers of the young and middle-aged, such as infections. The analysis does not link specific causes of death to various countries' life expectancies.
Nations such as China, Russia and India were not included, because they did not have adequate historical data, Ezzati said.
In contrast to the United States…
South Korea “has a remarkable investment in early childhood nutrition,” has been taking advantage of medical advances and technology across its population and has some of the world's lowest obesity and hypertension rates, Ezzati said.
The researchers said there is a 57 percent chance that the nation's women will live an average of more than 90 years by 2030 and a better than 95 percent chance that its men will survive beyond 80 (along with men in Australia and Switzerland).
“They seem to be getting a lot of things right at the same time, and getting them right for almost everyone,” he said.

--DO ME’S THOUGHTS ON MY & OTHERS' RECENT POSTS: What I was trying to do in my prior posts, was to describe Mexico’s National Health Plan and show the stubborn horse-blinder wearing Americans:
That if a Third World Country like Mexico (which has so, so, so many problems, etc.), can afford to have a National Health Plan; why can’t America?
I even listed pricing for the plan; med pricing and other good information.
In the near future I will give you all a detail in-depth description of where my taxes go that I pay in Mexico & more details about Mexico’s National Health. Plus I will give you all an insight to the cost of living in Mexico…etc.
--There are over 800,000 Americans living in Mexico; some say it is closer to one million.
A recent survey showed that around 85% of these Americans LOVE Mexico’s National Health Plan.
Some of the recent posts, about National Health Plans were sly and insulting. But what does ONE expect from Back Seat Drivers…?
EXAMPLE OF RECENT POST: “Mexico has among the worst health stats in OECD but I guess if its cheap out of pocket the shitty outcomes are worth it.”
TRANSLATION OF MY BACK SEAT DRIVERS STATEMENT: I live in a country with a National Health Plan. You ALL do NOT. That makes me the Driver and you ALL the Backseat Drivers.
And, than we have one Poster here, that just loves to Cherry Pick the Facts to support his opinions that pile in with his GOP type conservative thoughts on this subject…(see above Post, where he used Data from 2012…go figure).
--Why don’t the majority of you start that chant that drives me F..king Insane: “USA #1, USA #1, USA #1…
WAKE-UP CALL: Yes America & Americans; you ALL are Number ONE, but just about ALL in NEGATIVE THINGS.
For the Good Things; in so many IMPORTANT areas, you ALL do not even rank in the Top 5 or Top 10 anymore (not all, but most), or even in some areas, the Top 20 and dropping every year…
My current ANNUAL Cost for My National Health is far less than 50% of what I used to pay just for my MONTHLY premium for a basic health plan in America.
AND NO, please don’t use that BULL-SHIT about National Health Plans = Less Educated Doctors, Dirty Hospitals, Under-Staffed, etc. = ALL LIES.
EXAMPLE OF RECENT POST: “…but I guess if its cheap out of pocket the shitty outcomes are worth it.”
In Mexico, even basic Vaccines ARE FREE. By the way, how much are they in America?
And I believe (but not sure…), that Mexico’s Herd Vaccination Rate is equal to America’s if not a higher %...go figure.
AND. if you go into the local National Health Plan Hospital/Clinic = Condoms are FREE (no age limits).
And around 4-5 times a year, on weekends, they set up multiple tables in the Town Square giving out information, on Diets, General Healthcare, etc. The tables are staffed by Doctors & Nurses. They even give Vaccines at these sites, etc.
Plus, each table has a HUGE Bowl of Condoms = FREE for the taking—as many as you want (no age requirement).
Can you imagine the OUTCRY in America, (in A RED STATE, Red Community; maybe even some Blue States, Communities); where in the town square 4-5 times a year, they gave away FREE Condoms?
EXAMPLE OF RECENT POST (by my favorite Poster): “Nothing more expensive that free...”
I have been to more hospitals in Mexico, than I care to count = SPOTLESS etc. Just as clean, IF NOT cleaner than hospitals in America.
And, I have had 5-surgeries since I have lived in Mexico.
Joe, you are right, there was a SHITTY OUTCOME = I LIVED WITH NO INFECTIONS…go figure.
--President Obama TRIED to get A National Health Plan in the Form of Medicare type plan for all. But, couldn’t get enough votes/support in Congress to do so.
So, instead he could only get what we call Obamacare passed. Part of this plan included Medicaid for the Poor, folks living in Poverty, the Folks without jobs, etc.
Not Sure If My Facts Are Correct Here (but they are in the Ball Park); if not Joe will surely correct me…go figure.
The Medicaid portion came under the States, where for the First Three-Years the Federal Govt. would pay 100% of the Medicaid Insurance for this plan. After three years, the Federal Govt. would only pay like 90% of the Medicaid part of the plan.
(but, still a GREAT Deal).
Now if I was a Governor and I was offered a Plan like this; faster than I could Blink My Eyes, I would accept it.
For depending on the population of my State, it could mean Medical Coverage for Thousands, maybe even Millions = I WOULD BE SAVING LIVES!!!
WHAT HAPPEN: Around 20 to 22 Governors (ALL GOP) declined the Plan = Which meant around 8 million citizens in these combined States were left without Medical Coverage of which thousands have died & more will die; that didn’t have to die.
WHY did these GOP Governors decline it?
Because of their HATE for President Obama = RACISM; at one of its finest hours & no matter how YOU ALL Spin, no matter how far you all reach up your asses to pull out a dirty justification, etc. IT WAS RACISM/HATE.
Did ANY of you read the Health Plan the Ryan & The House past under Donald and where Mr. McCain was the deciding NO vote on the Senate Floor (THANK GOD)?
If you had read it, you would have seen, that it would have left Millions of more Americans eventually without affordable healthcare.
Noticed how the GOP has played THE NEGATIVE ROLE in regards to Health Plans in America.
Many of them (GOP), even want to bring back Pre-Existing Conditions, etc. etc. etc. They do what the LOBBYISTS want them to do = They, are well-trained Puppets.
Someone recently posted on this thread something like this: “America today, is like the Collapse of the Roman Empire.” AND I SADLY, SO SADLY AGREE!!!
So if you complain, whine, bitch, etc. about YOUR ALL Health Plans (or lack of), costs, etc. etc. etc. = BLAME ONLY YOURSELF.
You ALL should have not voted for the GOP or Independent = a wasted vote; or you should have voted (if you didn’t vote).
You ALL could have become a Political Non-Violent Activists = Signing up others to Vote; driving them to the Polls; marching/protesting, gave $$$ & your time, etc. etc. etc.
MARK TWAIN said something like this: “Americans will always do the Right Thing…but ONLY as the Last Resort.”
TO THE POSTERS HERE: Now in America, is ‘The Last resort Time’ OR will be shortly = DO SOMETHING, before it is to late…!!!
--MORE:
--Mexico’s Life Expectancy I Believe is at 76.6 Years Old and climbing in a good way; soon we here will outlive Americans = Now, That Is Food For Thought.
--In my small fishing village of ONLY 12,000 ( up to 16,000 if you count the hundreds of the small farms/ranches within a 50-mile radius of my village) we have the following:
--Two small Hospitals
--Five small Medical Clinics
--At least Five Private Doctor Offices
--Two Labs for All Testing
--A Physical Therapy Center
--Etc. Etc. Etc.
So many American Communities WISHED they had such…go figure.
Two years ago, or so, I slipped in mud while walking on a sidewalk (after a Hurricane) and badly re-injured by right shoulder (that was first severely injured by Police in America when I was very in my young early teens…go figure).
I went to the Free Hospital because of the constant pain and being unable to lift my arm above my head. After my X-Rays were reviewed, I was direct to the FREE Physical Therapy Center for the following treatment:
Five Days a week of 1.5 hours a day treatment, that lasted 3.5 months and was FREE (no out-of-pocket-expenses, etc.)!!!
Tell me, how much would the cost be in America? Maybe too much; that ONE would just have to live with the PAIN?
Once again JOE, you are right about a Shitty Outcome (my shoulder): = Haven’t had a problem/pain since!!!
--AND FINALLY: Another Quote from JOE in regards to America’s Health Care Problem:
“I dont know enough about that specifically to have a good opinion on it one way or another but will say that Im against subsidies as a general rule.
Subsidies very often squander incentive to innovate (or even maintain) and tend to not have the intended effects. Healthcare is already heavily subsidized in America.
I think what would be more effective is taking away these crutches to the market and pushing to shift the insurance model to be one of more catastrophic type coverage (similar to most other types of insurance) as opposed to covering everything under the sun.
Also being able to negotiate rates/plans across state lines is a potential option Ive heard that I think makes sense logically (competition is good). The market forces would place downward pressure on prices, as we see elsewhere in the economy.”
MY ONLY RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE POST IS: “YOU SAID WHAT?” But I am not surprised!!!
SO if, WE all had only CATASTROPHIC TYPE COVERAGE…what about my:
--Yearly Check-Ups (very important)?
--My Meds?
--What do I do if I am running a fever of 102 degrees?
--What about Physical Therapy (like my shoulder)?
--What about Blood Tests & X-Rays?
--What about basic Dental Work?
--What about if I need Stiches for a cut?
--What about a Scan/MRI?
--What about a Broken Arm/Leg?
--What about required Vaccines?
--ETC. ETC. ETC.
Because to my knowledge, Catastrophic does not cover the basics I mentioned above. Are you sure that your blood is not GOP Type?
