I agree, though I missed the first 6 innings. They just got a bit ... bored and distracted at the end...so did I, frankly. After we allowed that 8th run to score the shine went off the thought of a comeback for me. we did just what it felt like we would, 1-2-3...showers for all...

It's sad news for Mr. Neidhart and his family but is it really sports news? That’s just it. I guess it is some kind of news beyond just a common obituary. Maybe belongs on Entertainment Tonight. Because my son was addicted to wrestling, Neidhardt spent many evenings in our living room years ago. The death of any human is never to be taken lightly, but..,ESPN? Sports? No... ESPN actually covers WWF on their website. I went there for UFC news one time and saw WWF news

When I saw the crawler it became obvious to me that they cover the WWF and UFC crap within their network. There was a time when they blatantly stated that since these were no legitimate sports they would have nothing to do with reporting on them...I guess if it sells advertising, they'll report on it...
And in cock fighting, the red rooster defeated the black rooster when he pecked both of his eyes out and spit them into the crowd. Little Johnny Harrison of Hicktown USA caught the left eye and is offering it for sale on E-Bay for $1,000.00.

Only down a run with deGrom coming out of the game soon, why go to AJ Cole? Boone is pissing me off more and more every day.

Apparently it's also affecting your sleep, too...How many of us will rise out of our tombs tonight to post? None! We're vampires, not mummies!!!

I hate waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to sleep. All I think about is biting someone really fast so I can go back to bed. I get up and check the site to see if there are any other vampires out. Then I play spider solitaire for a while...Anything to tire my eyes out. Inevitably, I get hungry, which I am now for human food. Usually the kind that's REALLY not good for diabetics. I'll search the house like a madman until I find something. Sometimes the full belly helps me go back to sleep...Sometimes I roam the house until about 25 minutes before the alarm goes off and then...I fall asleep, only to have to rise again within minutes...
Ruthie and Brandy both sleep like babies. Only the cat is aware that I'm up. Cats know EVERYTHING...
That reminds me, I never did post a picture of the dog for Sierchio. Maybe tomorrow...yawn. I'm going to go eat. Maybe I'll be back. Sometimes I wind up researching the obscure players and factoids if I feel like I'll be up a while...hoping to hit the bed again soon...we'll see...

That's it. A pack of cold Smores Pop Tarts and 1/2 hour more of Spider Solitaire...four suit, two decks, PLEASE! That is the only way to play...and I think I can return to my roost...my toes are already curling to wrap around my branch...

I think maybe they need to give Severino a skip in the rotation. Guy needs some time off to get himself straight. Its as if he has no fire and is just out there throwing. They will have to wait until CC gets back first. I don’t think skipping Severino accomplishes anything. His velocity is fine, there’s no reason to think he’s hurt or needs rest. He likely is doing something subtle mechanically that’s changed his delivery from being deceptive to predictable. Even if Rothschild knows what that is getting a pitcher to adjust that is not so simple. He’s going to have to struggle through it.

As much as i’ve enjoyed Cashman’s conservative ways, I was quite concerned that he was squeezing the prospects and the dollar (though the Steinbrenners were probably more guilty there) too tight. An injured starting rotation is becoming more of a concern. The lack of a back up plan for Bird is starting to show badly and the light cast in the OF is becoming more of a concern than ever. The bullpen is now strong on the front line, but now with Chapman struggling we’re seeing that the pen is getting exposed and perhaps not as strong as it appeared earlier. Probably the worst issue of all is that Gary Sanchez has not been st all what we expected this season. What a strange season it’s been. How in the hell do they have the 2nd best record in baseball? Seriously, it's amazing. Good summary inger and I agree with you chiyankee. Going into the season I was most concerned with our starting pitching but now our long arms in the bullpen are struggling and Chapman has lost his control. I realize Clint Frazier would have been on the big club now but having to trot our Shane Robinson and his .138 average leaves a big hole in our lineup. Walker isn't hitting for a great average but his versatility has really helped. I believe Severino will right himself and hopefully Tanaka's last start was just an aberration because for the last month he has been really good. I don't know about Bird though. I realize he missed some time early but it seems to me he should be helping out with the bat more by now. A left handed hitting first baseman with "warning track power" in Yankee stadium doesn't help much. I wonder if Sanchez could be converted to first base sometime in the future? Can't complain too much though. With a healthy Judge playing great defense and hitting home runs we will be much improved. Hopefully Sanchez can come back in September and start hitting like he did last year. He really looked lost at the plate the last several weeks before he went on the DL.

The trade deadline left me feeling like I had just eaten a nice meal and was anticipating a dessert to top it off, only to find out the cake burned in the oven. Nice deals were made, but the "one" that would have made me feel like the team was going for it at any cost never materialized. That's because that's not what this team is doing. They have a plan, and they are sticking to it. That plan is to continue to build conservatively toward a future that they plan on wrapping around prospects. It's a plan that can work. It's worked for other franchises, but without strong supplementation from trades and free-agency it can also collapse if the youngsters don't wind up producing as hoped. It's certainly an interesting plan and an interesting team. Like any team, in any season injuries play a huge role in division races and the health a productivity of the roster at play off time is going to be a huge key.
One player in Boston that has seldom played more than 120 games in a season hasn't missed any time at all, J D Martinez. The Yankees have had the same good fortune in not having the oft-injured Stanton miss any time...It's yet to be seen if Chris Sale will have his typical late season swoon. On the other hand, Severino is already in one we didn't expect.
Baseball. Every season is different...Even the "great" Yankee teams of the dynasty years had an off-season and missed World Series once in a while. That tends to keep the rest of the fans interested enough to come back year after year. Right now, we're a contender. We must "settle" for that which most fans wish to see just once in a lifetime...Enjoy...
