I am only 21, so I don't as far as back as most of you, but this is easily, without question the most enjoyable season I've ever had as a Yankee fan. Even more enjoyable than 2009. Its different thats for sure. Obviously you don't remember 1996 because you were born about then, but that team was very similar to this one. Jeter wasn't expected to be a starter, but he wound up being one after an injury to the starting SS. Rivera was not even the closer then just a setup man who wound up finishing the season in the top 5 of the cy young voting, role players like Mariano Duncan, Charlie Hayes etc. It just seemed like everyone that was a member of that team contributed in some way very similar to this one. They also beat a staff of 3 pitchers considered to be in the top tier of the league. Obviously the indians staff isnt HOF worthy, but it was highly talked about. Oh and this in the clinching game 6 : I've felt all year like this was a little like 96. We had more veteran talent but we were not expected to win in 1996. I was at that game in 96 and had just been ranting about how Girardi was useless and Posada should have been playing when he hit that triple.

We used to go much more often before I had kids and my job changed. It was a ton of fun to be there Sunday. Realistically that's probably it for us in person this post season but it has been fun to watch some of the games at home with the kids also this October. They were so fired up to watch the highlights with me this morning. Bring on Houston!

Indians choked again! Iron Eyes Cody...not a Native American, he's a distant relative of mine on my father's side. Born in south Louisiana, his family ran a grocery store in my hometown.

I'd venture a guess that very few of the people who played "Indians" in the old shoot 'em up cowboy movies were real Indians...I also have my doubts that the Indians did as much of that Three Stooges whooping that they did in the movies. I think they were quieter...they killed with stealth...I could see they might have whooped once the charge started, but I think at some point they would have settled down for a good fight...It's hard to shoot a bow and arrow while screaming your head off...
Think how undignified it would have been for an Indian to play an Indian (besides, in the movies they all spoke perfect English). It would be as bad for them as it would be for a black man to portray a slave in a negative context...

Posted by The Kraken when the Yanks were down 2-0.
What was that about Gary Sanchez's shitty attitude again?

Right, but I meant like in general how it seemed like the whole team contributed, if someone went cold, someone else went hot. Young talent exceeded expectations etc.

Young talent exceeded expectations etc. Totally agree. This is a very balanced team even with as much as Judge and Sanchez meant to them. That's more like 96-98 than more recent years. I love the balance that has been restored to the roster.
