A few notes on some ex-Yankees.
That bum Frankie Montas is 2-0 with an 0.77 ERA after two starts for the Reds.
Kyle Higashioka of the Padres became only the sixth catcher of the expansion era (since 1961) to throw out multiple baserunners and hit a home run in the same inning. The others were Sammy Taylor in 1961, John Romano in 1966, Ted Simmons in 1975, Joe Ferguson in 1977 and Benji Molina in 2000. I don't know how they track records like that.
Joey Gallo, currently playing first base for the Nationals, got his first hits of the season, raising his average to .188. He is on a quest for his fifth straight sub-.200 BA year. I can't believe that's happened too many times.
Not Yankee-related, but the peripatetic Athletics finished a seven-game homestand drawing just over 45,000 fans. They're on a pace for under 500,000 for the year. If as appears possible they crash in Sacramento for three years before coming to Vegas, that 10,000 capacity minor league park (14,000 with lawn chairs included) should be more than adequate.

Terrible break for him and Cleveland, Bieber was off two a great start. Doubly sucks for him because he was set to become a FA. Now rather than likely signing a huge, long-term deal, he will probably have to sign a much shorter, less lucrative "prove it" deal.

Yamamoto since his rough first outing has now thrown ten innings of shut out baseball in his last two starts. His fastball has more life than I would have expected and his splitter is no joke.

Yesterday former Yankee Starter Mike King went 7 strong innings in a win for the Padres. He had two poor outings before that.

With just under 1/16th of the MLB season behind us, the Yankees are six games over .500 and tied for the best record in baseball.

Yesterday former Yankee Starter Mike King went 7 strong innings in a win for the Padres. Boone would have pulled him at 4.2…

The Bird's latest talent is coming to the bigs. Only a matter of time. I think the plan is to move him to 2B.
