You mean you had doubts??? It was looking dicey there for a while with the tough away schedule against the Rays and the Red Sox to close out the season and the A's winning all the time. I'm gonna be super nervous for the Wild Card game that's for sure.

Take something along to wipe with during the game. You may need it... (:

If we can just get passed Oakland, I like our chances with Boston. Sale is a big question mark, we hit lefthanders well, our lineup is clicking, etc. But anything can happen in that one game Wild Card. I'm praying whoever starts the game does not give a bunch of early runs to Oakland. That's my biggest fear.

And playing Boston, does it get any better than that? Red Sox/Yankees in the playoffs? So much fun! We still need revenge for 2004. But can't get ahead of ourselves. Got to win this Wild Card Game.

Eckersley was bitching about Yankee Stadium a week ago. Look at how goofy the dimensions are at Fenway. Nevertheless, going to the game tomorrow. Have fun GF! Do the Red Sox fans ever give you trouble? Yes. Years ago at a game Pettitte pitched some fat prick took a swing at me for cheering for the Yankees. He missed, fell over and security escorted him and his painfully embarrassed son out of the park. Taking my kids today. If anyone gives them shit theyâre going to regret it

Joe Kelly might have a 4.5 ERA, but heâs still a hard-throwing dude who can be really uncomfortable to hit against... Heâs a Hero Of The Stupid at Fenway because of the way he took a cheap shot at Tyler Austin. Weâll see some clowns wearing âJoe Kelly Fight Clubâ shirts today. Iâll ask them why he canât get anyone out.

Iâm still of the mind that, while itâs true that there are more hard throwers than ever before...Velo readings are somewhat inflated these days as well because of the change made a couple of seasons ago when they decided to measure the ball coming out of the pitcherâs hand rather than as it crossed the plate. Human beings ARE bigger and stronger, and techniques have improved with video and research. Evolution is not quite as fast a process as these readings are making it seem. I believe that 98 from two or three years ago is now 100... 97 is the new 95, etc...More because of the technological changes than reality... I concur. Â My opinion was three mph. Â I believe Nolan Ryan would generate - top end - 104. Â 95 today looks like 92 of the past to me. Â 98 like 95. [bra] I absolutely do not believe the radar guns today. It doesnât make sense that all of a sudden so many people can throw high 90s - including guys who couldnât when they were younger. Doesnât work that way.

I noticed his FIP this year is barely higher than it was last year, yet his ERA is like 1.7 higher this year...Looking at his career track it would appear the 2.79 of 2017 is the outlier...All his peripherals are about in line with his history... Anyway, I thought I might be alone in my opinion about velocity. Glad to see some of you are also non-believers in instant-evolution of the human arm... As for Kelly...yeah, doggie...don't let 'em give you any shit. I didn't realize that a cheap shot fastball at a AAAA player could make you a folk hero these days...

Fatness made me remember a time that I was in Baltimore and three brave fellows decided to get together to target me in my Yankee hat right as the game ended, even though I pretty much say quietly through the game, which the Yankees won. Since they had been drinking, I guess they needed a target and I was on the third base side of the field where the Oriole faithful sit. As the crowd was leaving the stadium I was able to maneuver my way through the crowd to where they lost me, step aside at a vendor's booth and take a position a short ways behind them as they continued to holler taunts and look for me. It was really great fun, since twice I heard one say, "there he is" as they pushed people aside only to find someone else...Dumbass drunks...I never revealed myself. Wasn't worth it...

I told the boys they absolutely could if they wanted to and I wouldnât let anyone give them any crap for it. Iâm wearing the hat of my second favorite baseball team, the Guilford Little League AAA White Lightning.
