Best of luck to you noetsi! Sorry you have to go through this. I have thyroid cancer which is not supposed to be that serious....but if I see Mr. G next week probably will be a sign its more serious than they thought...
wonder if you can argue in heaven
I'm sorry to hear that, Noetsi. I know you will get through this! You'll be in my prayers.

I think I’ve finally begun to understand what “prayer” is and am able to participate in doing so. Therefore, noetsi you will get my attempts, however weak or strong they may be.
I had always associated prayer with religion, but now I see a bigger picture in which we need not be affiliated with any particular form of worship in order to lend a hopeful prayer for whatever the power may be for a positive result.
Yeah. It’s not easy being me, I guess...it’s a scientific viewpoint of what life is (not at all to be confused with Scientology or any other religion).
I do believe that all of us and all things around us are constantly interacting and that this force, which we can call “God” if we need a convenient word is all around us, and a very positive force...
Hope you can handle all of that noetsi, cause like it or not it’s heading your way... (:
You seem to be taking this news with a tremendous amount of courage. You have my everlasting admiration for that...you’re one tough old boy, and John G. would have been proud of you if he were still with us. It’s most likely that he’s still here in some other form or dimension that’s beyond what we can understand today and will be happy to resume his loving arguments with you whenever you decide to join him...

I am a Christian so pray has an obvious meaning to me And I believe its important to worship the right god, as there is only one. I am not a brave person. I am dealing with it primarily by ignoring it....but also I believe the Lord's will is the best so that works for me. I sort of wonder how Boston and Yankee fans get along in heaven given that there can be no sin there :)No swearing, anger etc..

Please, if you are unable to contact us quickly after the surgery, find someone that can, so we can know how you are, Russ... whatever religion a person utilizes to feel grounded is always fine with me. It’s a wonderful feeling to believe in something and to believe you know what’s going to happen in the “next phase”, such as it may be. Many people don’t believe me, but I’ve often wished I had a faith to cling to in difficult times. I simply won’t pretend to believe in something to be socially acceptable. I’m getting back to seeking now a bit, where I had given up on it all and for a time thought perhaps I was an atheist. Then I made some more discoveries and have at least broken inertia in a quest for at the very least a form of spirituality...

Back to the game:
I’m glad the A’s have chosen to utilize the opener strategy for the game. I feel it reveals a weakness on their part, and the fact that the opener is a pitcher of only moderate skills is to our advantage. One slip on his part and the strategy is considered a failure...

Does anyone know how many of Trevor Story’s MLB -leadings 7 HR of 450+ were hit at home vs. on the road?
This is one of the issues of having one baseball park out of 30 that plays at high altitude. You have to wonder...because it DOES matter...

I just looked them up on stat cast and every one of the 7 of 450’ or more were hit in Denver. This deserves an asterisk...

I loved the '79 "We Are Family" Pirates. Of course, I was only 10 years old and was a big Willie Stargell fan. I've since grown indifferent towards the Bucos. Are you by any chance from Western PA Chi? That would certainly give you an excuse. I was a Stargell fan too. Great player, great guy. For whatever reason -- maybe their indelible identification with disco and Omar Moreno's wife dancing wildly on the dugout -- they rubbed me the wrong way. Plus guys like John Candelaria, Phil Garner, Kent Tekulve and the aforementioned Moreno -- not to mention their announcer Bob "A bloop and a blast" Prince -- just irritated me. Sports is irrational, who knows? Maybe it was just the Sister Sledge factor. Oh yeah, I hated the 1969 Mets as well -- probably not many on here who lived through that -- they were such media darlings, and people who didn't know squat about baseball suddenly became, for maybe two weeks, avid Mets fans. I'm from North Central PA. It was strange, I grew up in a tiny town with only two stop lights, but we got Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Pirates, and later Braves games on TV. Plenty of baseball to watch without the Extra Innings package.

Good luck and think positively! Sending good vibes your way! I like the terminology “good vibes”. Are you by chance a Rosi Crucian or do you subscribe to that system of study?... I have not joined, though I do have the intention to do so if only to try to better understand the universe and enhance my existing beliefs...

Best of luck to you, Russ. We will be thinking of you and wishing you the best. For sure, Mr. Russ. You’ve become one of our iconic posters through the years. We truly realized what we were missing when we left you behind on the 24/7 site. We need a varied roster in order to have an interesting forum. You were missed, so we sent out a life line or two to pull you in. I hope that doesn’t make us gang posters, waithing for our turn with you... (:
