Machado will turn 27 years old next season on July 6. Andujar will turn 24 years old next season on March 2. This was Machado’s seventh season of MLB and Andujar’s first. Last season, Machado accumulated 709 plate appearances. Andujar had 606 plate appearances.

Kluber will turn 33 next season, and I fear an acquisition of a pitcher on the way down, rather than up. Also, Kluber has not exactly been a lock down starter in the post-season. Noah Syndergaard has been hurt the last two seasons. Incredible stuff, but he could be the next Mark Prior. |

He’s only worth it if Andujar can net us Syndergaard or Kluber...maybe even if we get Bauer... I agree, inger. I wonder if Happ is the fallback option and the Yanks are seriously looking to make a trade for a younger pitcher first. |

Forget the money. It's insane. But remember that the Yankees could sign Harper AND Machado and still make truckloads of money. Just think about the team. Signing Manny and trading Andujar for a young stud starter makes perfect sense because it would make the Yankees a better team. I love Andujar, but Manny is a much better player. (He may be a putz, too!). Terrific defensive third baseman, maybe one of the all-time greats. Andujar is unproven, and shaky on defense. |

Gotta love Andujar’s bat.
Whether we like it or not, Boone doesn’t like his defense, and defensive metrics seem to agree...
Gotta love ace pitchers when in win now mode...
Gotta love Machado’s glove, and often his bat, too...
Depends on who we get, but as much as I like Andujar...there are pitchers I’d rather have...Wait and see. If we wind up with Matz or Wheeler, I won’t be happy if we give Andujar for that...

Tend to agree, inger. Whats not to love about Miggy's offense, but Machado is the better all around player by far The team has to have a front line starter and if it takes Miggy to make it happen and we get Machado in the turn around then I think Cash has to do it. The idea is to win a championship in 2019 and beyond. To match up against the Red Sox stuff has to happen. Also, don't forget that the Yankees need two quality arms. Britton should be one of them. It looks like D Rob may be heading to Fenway.

Yeah, Chuck. If Severino had continued his ace-like run last season, I’d be okay with this staff as is, even though health is frighteningly suspect...Even adding Syndergaard wouldn’t cure that, since he’s got history of his own...But it would increase our odds...

BTW: also agree we still need to address the bull pen...I have close to zero faith in Chapman going forward. Get Britton, but don’t stop there... Ottavino? LeClerc? Fill that pen to the brim!!!
