Here's Jeter - HOF Shih Tzu (click to enlarge) I like the Crusin' Jeter. To be fair, Jeter needs pedal blocks, but Joe needs them too so it’s all good...

I like the Crusin' Jeter. He gets all the bitches The only two dogs that have ever bit me were a Dachsund and a Shih-Tzu. The Dachsund only broke the skin because I pulled my hand away and one of his longest teeth (hmm. guess that was a “canine tooth”) drug down my finger and made a tear in the skin. He was an older dog and used to let me pet him, but the owner’s said he was partially blind at that point and had developed some fear. The Shih-Tzu was a neighbor’s and she tried to nip me several times so one day, to the owner’s horror, I just put my hand in front of her muzzle and told her to get it over with. I think she could have chewed on my hand for an hour without getting through the skin. That dog seemed to like everyone but me. Odd since that’s the only dog that ever had an obvious dislike for me...I’ve petted many dogs that the owners said were not friendly...and yes... there were a few that I was leery enough to stay away from...

Brandy went to her regular vet. He ran blood tests and declared her blood work to be as close to perfect as he’s seen. That said, he still wants to remove some of the skin growths and send them for biopsy to be certain they’re one fatty tissue.
So, we either assume fatty tissue or spend about $1300 to find out. Besides the expense is putting her through the procedure. We also have the option of removing the growths, but not having them tested, thereby eliminating the growth, but not knowing if we should address about 4 or 5 other growths that she has.
To be honest, I don’t know what makes sense at this point. We also found out that she reall hasn’t lost the weight we thought she had. There is simply a difference in the scales at the two offices.
So we left one vet office concerned she lost weight, and the other with orders to reduce her food intake, official weight of 148.8. The top weight in their records was 151 last year. Gosh, looking at her we thought she had gained weight, hence my referring to her as 155 pounds of rompin’ stompin’ love.
It appears the pain was from a slipped disc in her spine up near her neck.
My impulse st this point is to wait a couple of months and see how she’s doing. Right this minute, you’d never know she had any issue. She’s doing great...I hate putting any animal through a procedure that may be unnecessary...

If she is close to her end by Bred Age, you might want to wait and just accept/assume that it is fatty tissue??? However, if she has more years to live according to her Bred; you might want to do more...But than again, she is your family member and you guys need to make the decision(s). See first article about the costs of dogs...

She’s 6.5, with a projected breed life span of 8-11. So, she could be around for a while. When my Pyrenees has to be put down he was 13.5 and his breed life span was 8-11 as well. Just like us, one never knows, and there is no real “normal”. We’re going to revisit this in a couple of months.

If the January blues hadn't already got to you... the world's cutest dog, Boo, has died of a broken heart.
The Pomeranian Boo and his companion Buddy, who died last year, became internet sensations when their American owners started sharing pictures of their adorable antics.
His death was confirmed in a post made by his owners to his 16 million Facebook followers. He was 12 years old, in human years.
"Shortly after Buddy died, Boo showed signs of heart issues. We think his heart literally broke when Buddy left us," his owners wrote. "He hung on and gave us over a year. But it looks like it was his time, and I'm sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven.
"Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort," they added, noting that Boo "brought joy to people all over the world."
The announcement was met with shock from Boo's fans, several of whom said they were in tears at the news. READ MORE..
