Cant believe Tiger coughed it up late to the no-namer in the match play. Would have loved to see him in the Final Four today but probably better that he didnt have to play another 36 holes today. Dont want that back tight for The Masters. Yep, I thought he had Bjerregard (actual spelling may vary) for sure. Tiger still needs those two more wins to tie Sam Snead. I have to think he will get them. Man, I would love to see a good showing for him at The Masters. When he was dominating the sport, I got tired of him winning and rooted against him. Being away so long made me miss him, and at least from what we can see changed him and made him a more sympathetic character. I keep trying to warm up to Sergio Garcia, but every time I think I am getting there, his inner jerk comes out.

www.msn.com/en-us/sports/golf/kevin-kisner-gets-it-right-at-match-play/ar-BBVsKfa Kisner, who won $1,745,000 for his first World Golf Championships title, recalls his father staking him $16,000 to see if he could make it as a pro golfer. He won his third tournament on the mini-tours, and when his bank account reached $40,000, he thought he was rich.
The lesson along the way: Make putts or lose money.
That's what works at the Match Play, and he delivered enough key moments to capture the biggest win of his career.
"It was a long week. I prevailed. And I'm a world golf champion," Kisner said.
He became the first player to win Match Play after losing in the championship match the previous year. READ MORE...
WE have Kisner as one of our PICKS in the Masters at great odds.

So glad it's Masters week. Jim Nantz, Patrons, Amen Corner, An Event Unlike Any Other, the whole scene. Other than Yankees post-season baseball, this is probably my favorite event in sports. My wife and I went a few years back and it is even better in person. A great experience all the way around. Has to be on any golf fan's bucket list.
Rory McIlroy still needs this one for the career Grand Slam. I wouldn't call him a favorite, but I think he has been playing well enough to have a serious shot. Justin Rose is often in the running in this, and I am fine with him taking it. Neither Dustin Johnson or Justin Thomas have done very well at Augusta. Rickey Fowler still looking for that first major -- remember he only lost to Patrick Reed by one shot last year. Bubba Watson has won this thing twice, so look out there too. And I love how Molinari has been playing lately.
A dream scenario would have Tiger making a late Sunday charge to take it. I'm not counting on that, but I don't think it's a complete impossibility either. He's still three years younger than Jack when The Bear won it in 1986.
And if one of the old past winners could just make it interesting on Sunday -- Fred Couples or Jose Maria Olazabal or Vijay Singh or Ian Woosnam or Sandy Lyle or Bernhard Langer -- back to the 80s and 90s, baby. Why I love this event, it's not completely out of the question.
Of course, DoMe has a lot more than nostalgia riding on this. Seems like you have most of the field covered -- you must have come across some mathematical formula that makes it impossible for you to not make money.
I'm ready to break out that Augusta National polo shirt on Thursday. Let's go!!

A REAL SPECIAL WEEKEND!!!
After reading Pipps' Post a number of times, plus watching a Special last night about Couples and his health & his chances at this year Masters = I made the following very foolish decision:
I placed additional bets on Couples 500/1 $100.00 Singh 500/1 $100.00 Langer 500/1 500/1 $100.00 Angel Cabrera 1000/1 $100.00 Kizzire 750/1 $100.00
God, please bless the Stupid!!!

www.msn.com/en-us/sports/golf/opinion-imagine-what-golf-might-look-like-had-augusta-national-invited-women-to-compete-20-years-ago/ar-BBVKc8D AUGUSTA, Ga. – The logical question to ask after the smashing success of the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur is, simply, what’s next?
Will the club expand the number of rounds played on the revered grounds of Augusta National? Will it allow all three rounds to be played on the course, rather than just the final round? Or at least the last two rounds?
Will it ever bring a professional event here, a Women’s Masters, to give the LPGA a stage the likes of which it has never had but certainly would covet? The timing and logistics look prohibitive right now, but if tournament schedules were rearranged and such an opportunity opened up, one would think the LPGA and its sponsors would jump at the chance to make it work.
But as I watched elite amateurs Jennifer Kupcho and Maria Fassi stage a glorious match-play-style duel that was the epitome of class and sportsmanship, I couldn’t help but think of another question:
What if Augusta National had done this 20 years ago?
What might the demographics of golf look like today if Augusta National, the most famous golf course in the country, had earnestly welcomed women as competitors and (dare I say it?) equals in the late 1990s rather than so publicly and angrily denying membership to women until 2012?

I wish I had your gambling budget, DoMe. I am amazed that Angel Cabrera's odds are twice that of some of the other oldies on there like Langer and Singh and Couples. If he wins, you can make a nice down payment on that dream house in the Maldives.
Cabrera is one of my favorites because he defies every law of conditioning. Maybe the odds are so high because he is back up to six packs of Lucky Strikes per day and is having coughing fits. He is the last golfer I know of who would smoke during a round.
Arnie of course did it all the time -- he would place his Chesterfield carefully on the green as he lined up his putt -- but Angel kept on puffing and getting fat a half century after everyone knew it was bad for you. I will always root for a man like that (even though personally I am rather thin and have never smoked in my life.) I like guys who don't give a rip.

Haha, love the Jim Nantz greeting, Joe. Good luck on your picks, even if they are not as all-encompassing as DoMe's.
The Masters did not have 18 hole coverage until 2002. It has always been broadcast on CBS. Nantz has been there since 1986, but the one guy I most associate with the tournament is Pat Summerall.
There have been lots of big names broadcasting over the years -- Vin Scully, Brent Mussberger, Ray Scott, Jim McKay, Dick Enberg, many others. A very good one who was there for years but now largely forgotten was Frank Glieber, who also did NFL broadcasts. What a great assignment to have.
