true inger but the golf that people follow on tv is rarely a team sport (there is the Ryder Cup and I think is an Olympic sport now). Well, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it. That doesn’t mean you need to bitch about it...there are like 600 other channels...

Golf is indeed a great game...……..I played quite a bit when it was important to do so from the standpoint of corporate or governmental culture...I got good enough to not be embarrassed by my play, but my game was quite inconsistent....it is beautiful to watch the pros with their game...this is one of the few games that can be totally enjoyed on a round when you are alone, as sometimes occurs...
I don't watch much golf on TV though, and I really don't know much about the current players...I was a Lee Trevino fan when he was in his heyday...sorry I don't have much to contribute on this thread...
true story though...I was playing in a foursome in Florida, when one of the afternoon storm arose quickly...lightning began to strike near us and one of the group dropped his club and sprinted to the clubhouse...we other 3 crowded into foliage of an oleander bush, and got wet, but the storm passed as quickly as it struck...it turned out the fellow was deathly afraid of lightning because he had a metal plate in his head.....he had been warned about lightning strikes, and fled in fear...fortunately he was not struck, but it seemed to me more risky running across the course, than dropping clubs and trying to get close to the ground in a bush....who knows though...lightning is unpredictable...

I wonder if having metal like that really makes a difference

I wonder if having metal like that really makes a difference I wondered the same thing, noetsi….in his mind there was a surety that he was effectively a lightning rod....I think it is more likely a secondary issue, and the charge he built up by running was more likely cause a strike than the metal plate... I knew a young man who was walking on Cocoa Beach, was struck by lightning...and lived....but, the energy heated the change in his pockets to the point of burning him, and since he was dazed somewhat, he did not realize the pain of the burns until they were pretty severe...2nd degree burns I think...someone smelled the burning and drove him to the hospital...

If I had a metal plate in my head and lightning was near, I’d learn to stand on my head...

If I had a metal plate in my head and lightning was near, I’d learn to stand on my head... right....….and forget to take off your metal spike shoes...…….I've got a feeling that if it was gonna get you, it would...there are some crazy lightning stories out there....passenger planes in the air being struck, and having balls of fire rolling down the aisle, for one...

My mother told of a ball of lightning chasing her around the house one day. It fizzled out at some point...

I think height rather than metal would be the key to getting hit. Or water near you

Props to you Dome for having the foresight to not put any money down on thr pre-tournament favorite Rory McIlroy. Holy cow, makes quadruple bogey on the first hole and finishes at eight over. He'll have to shoot a heck of a round Friday to even make the cut.
