Props to you Dome for having the foresight to not put any money down on thr pre-tournament favorite Rory McIlroy. Holy cow, makes quadruple bogey on the first hole and finishes at eight over. He'll have to shoot a heck of a round Friday to even make the cut. Nothing like a nice 8 on the card to start a round of golf. Been there, done that. But to be s pro and start the British open that way has to be devastating. Then again, to be a pro golfer... what a life. He’ll play somewhere in another week or two... and be be back to England again, right?...

In A Way it reminds me (in a way--not exactly) of the Lincoln Golf Course (Public) In S.F. that I played about once a month back in the day.
I think a very tough course with the Mist from the Fog, the Winds, thick fog, balls breaking towards Ocean, multiple downhill and uphill lies, almost always hitting from an angle, etc.
It is one of the most beautiful scenic courses in the World = Not the Course but the Ocean Views = The17th Hole I believe is the Most Scenic Hole In The World.
Yeah tough course today and the weather wasn't that bad.
Bye Bye Rory & Tiger and others...

Always love The Open. Hard to believe Rory set the course record at Potrush with a 61 at age 16. He'll need to do that tomorrow if he wants to play the weekend. Best of luck on your picks, Dome. I think you're due for some good fortune here.

I think you're due for some good fortune here. Maybe the boy hadn’t finished his schooling at 16 and had some trouble counting... I’ve seen college educated folks have trouble counting any higher than 5 on the golf course...

Happy so far for Today's Round; think I got 4 Players in Top Ten. Weather, if it turns bad will be a factor in winning this baby.

Tequila: WE got a good shot at winning this baby... Looks like you made a prescient late move to add Lowry. Even if he falters, you have Fleetwood as a backup. It will be a historic day if one of those two doesn't take it at this point. Seven strokes seems like too much to make up for Koepka and the others.

Because of pending heavy rains and high winds, tee times for the Open on Sunday have been moved up an hour. That means the final duo of Lowry and Fleetwood will tee off at 8:47 Eastern time. That's 6:47 in your neck of the woods, Inger. That means everything should be finishing up right about when you are digging in to your Eggs Benedict.

I haven’t seen any of this glorious event yet, but like a typical pink hat fan I’m looking forward to watching the finale. I get quite enthralled to see the pros in situations that resemble the ones I used to find myself in. Swinging an iron or wedge and making it look like a weed whip (Do they still make weed whips? Seems like the generation that knows how to use one has about become extinct)... Then, you also get to them score some of those silly numbers I’d make on occasion. I recall being so proud of myself the first time I was able to turn in an eighteen hole scorecard with no eights on it, then no sevens...That didn’t last as I began to play less, of course... One of the cruelest things that ever happened to me was scoring a 39 on the front side at Chantilly Manor in Rising Sun. MD, only to have the rest of the round rained out...(Bear in mind my all time low was 85). I went back a few days later and opened my round on the back nine, scoring 44 for an unofficial rain delayed 83...Had a 44 on the front (played after the back) that day for an official 87. Salad days of golf for me...

You ever play Chantilly Manor, Pipps?... Never made it there, Inger. Most of my golfing was done around the Wilmington/Kennett Square area. Plus I clearly was not in your class on the links. We might have discussed this before -- did you ever play Porky Oliver's course in Wilmington? Or Loch Nairn or Kennett Golf Club? Perhaps more importantly, and kind of in-between where you were and I was, do you remember Sunset Park outside of Oxford, PA?

Perhaps more importantly, and kind of in-between where you were and I was, do you remember Sunset Park outside of Oxford, PA? We discussed playing Porky, but if we ever got there is outside of my memory bank at the moment. I played Loch Nairn several times and was quite partial to that little semi island green there. I also recall that there was on hole that you had to play with about a 225 yard tee shot and then do an about face and take a dogleg back the way you came to the green. There were tall trees between the tee box and the green that wouldn’t let you cut the corner. I used to carry a five wood for that tee shot until I improved my long irons and could tag my three iron for about the right distance to reach that corner. Chantilly was interesting. There were holes where if you could shape your shot (I couldn’t) you could get a big advantage. The greens tended to be fast and had some extreme breaks on them. I actually tempering standing with one cup at about 125 degrees to my right rear and rolling a forty footer to within a foot or two. Loch Nairn was only about 15-20 minutes from the house, so it became a fairly regular track for me. Tanglewood was closer. Pilgrims Oak and Chantilly, too, but they were a bit pricier...
